The Most Important Thing YOU Can Do to Save Big Cats

Most-ImportantThis bill called the Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act is the most important piece of legislation to ever be introduced to protect lions, tigers and other exotic wild cats from being kept as pets and in miserable roadside zoos. It ended the 113th Congressional session with more than 120 co sponsors.  Now we are working to re introduce the bill in early 2015.

Who is Big Cat Rescue?

Big Cat Rescue, one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats, is a leading advocate in ending the abuse of captive big cats and saving wild cats from extinction.  We are home to about 100 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars, servals and other species most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts.

Kam MohtashemiMolly and Abby, sisters we rescued about 7 years ago. I assure you, these are two separate animals, not a two headed mutant feline.5 hours ago   ·  40

Shauna KaiserThis is hayley. She is 1.5 years old. She was born oct 17 2013 and adopted dec 12, 2013. It was love at first sight for both of us. She is a mommas girl and sleeps in my arms every night5 hours ago   ·  43
Anneliese KnoffMy 3-legged, FIV+, toothless orange boy. He was hit by a car, and his (now missing) front leg was irreparably damaged. He's the lovebug of the house, though between his tattered ears and the way he dominates our 13-pound 4-year-old cat, you can tell he had a hell of a street life.5 hours ago   ·  56

Heather TrottierPrincess jynxy bean is on the left...she is whiter than pickles..we got her off of a sale site...ferrets are better off when bonded. Her owners were looking for a new home for her cause her bonded friend yuki had just passed away and they were worried she would go into a off pickles and i went on a play date and they hit it off so well she came home with me that night at no charge from her owners . The only request they made was that we send them periodical updates on her and some pictures. Every 4 months or so i write them an email and attach some pictures of jynxy bean adventures....i couldnt imagine having one without the other now...jynxy is 6 and pickles is a year and a half...5 hours ago   ·  24

Melissa CarolineThis is B'Elanna Tortie. I adopted her from a foster home, where she had been for several years because while she is a total sweetie (almost *aggressively* affectionate, actually) to humans, she is a HOLY TERROR with other cats. She's only 6 lbs because she got pregnant very young, so I often call her "the tiny precious" or "my perma-kitten". She's about 5 years old now, but has the energy and playfulness of a much younger cat. She's also a tiny ball of tortietude, and too smart for her own good.5 hours ago   ·  21
Natasha DaleTiggy....a rescue who had been sealed in a cardboard box left to die. An angel on earth found her; when I saw her pic I had to have her. She has more character than any cat I've ever had. Tonight she learned to open the front door by running & jumping at handle...I was in garden and saw all of my (indoor) cats running for the trees. She high 5's for treats and gives me more joy than I can express.5 hours ago   ·  21
Andraya CopassThis is Genzi. We were able to give him a home for 13 years, through asthma and diabetes, before cancer finally got him a few months ago. I'm still grieving, but I enjoy remembering him as the huge, wild, absolute sweetie that he was.5 hours ago   ·  21
Leigh MusicofI won't call my kids "animals", I reserve that term for bipeds. They're both rescues.5 hours ago   ·  19
Jennifer BinghiThis is sgt pepper. He's 3 1/2. He was born in our yard to a feral colony that we fed and housed. He was super friendly as a kitten when the time came that we TNR the colony I decided to take him in he was too sweet to live outside. He's a complete love and has a heart on his front legs5 hours ago   ·  19
Rowan PritchardMy common boa, Sebastian. He was rescued from a home that inappropriately housed him with another snake, he also came to me with a respiratory infection and mites but now he is 100% healthy and happy!4 hours ago   ·  18
Christina StearnsThis is Rascal the cat, and his little puppy buddy, Spicegirl. Best buds for life . Spice was a singleton pup whom Rascal " mommied" and taught manners to. They had such a bond.5 hours ago   ·  15
Nicole L WolfeZoey I took her in when she was 6months I've had her for 6years now and she's wonderful. Although she took a few years to train. When I got her she chewed through my wall, my couch, kitchen table, my daughter's toys and my heels. She's now hands down the best dog I've ever had5 hours ago   ·  15
