The Most Important Thing YOU Can Do to Save Big Cats

Most-ImportantThis bill called the Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act is the most important piece of legislation to ever be introduced to protect lions, tigers and other exotic wild cats from being kept as pets and in miserable roadside zoos. It ended the 113th Congressional session with more than 120 co sponsors.  Now we are working to re introduce the bill in early 2015.

Big Cat Rescue, one of the world’s largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats, is a leading advocate in ending the abuse of captive big cats and saving wild cats from extinction.  We are home to about 80 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougarsservals and other species most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts.

Linda HeartThe king and his court want to be free lions . When people are confined to living in fenced up areas and used in canned terror games with the possible outcome of death , then they can say yes that was great or they can tell the truth and say , I made a great mistake and know now , it is not something worthy of a human being with feelings and a soul . But how long must we wait how long must the animals wait for people to discover this about themselves ? The price goes up day after day for the animals and the almighty dollar gets stronger day after day. The horror these animals see and hear and feel in those so called farms is atrocious , they are run by those who don't want to earn a living like a real human being and honestly one where their heads can be held up with pride . People should think before visiting these countries , take your money someplace that honors animal life , and keeps its dignity intact .3 hours ago   ·  7

Simon ForderI was listening to a radio show yesterday which led to the inescapable conclusion that the whole concept of trying to make wildlife in Africa pay for itself is flawed as it is impossible to do so - and that therefore if the international community is serious about conservation we need to get rid of the poaching and hunting and pay outright for the conservation. By doing so it would bring the African governments and economies onside, but it would need to totally eliminate the asian "traditional medicine" market. If the hunting is not economically viable, then why is it still happening? Because rich westerners still think it is big to kill an animal, and individuals make enough money out of it to bribe the governments into not acting. The sooner it becomes illegal to import hunting trophies, the better.3 hours ago   ·  5

Judith NorthernIts just sick. All of it, the farming, canned hunts, Asian medicine and poaching. Pity we aren't allowed to treat them the same way and with the same indifference they show these animals.3 hours ago   ·  3

Peggy BrysonThe situation with these places that take care of wild animals, is cruel and criminal. If you donate to this place, you are being taken for your money and not to protect the cubs. They need to investigate thoroughly and close that abusive company which their only care is how much money they can make from these beautiful animals.3 hours ago   ·  1
