Slideshow on the Buffalo Zoo’s tiger cubs
Updated: 01/18/08 1:40 PM
The Buffalo Zoo’s newest residents, a pair of 3-month-old Amur tiger cubs, make their online debut in a slideshow by News photographer Derek Gee.
The Cubs are important to the survival of the Amur tiger, whose fast-disappearing natural population is centered in the Russian Far East. Formerly known as Siberian tigers, they once populated vast forestlands. But their main natural habitat has receded to the Amur River valley, and no more than 350 to 450 are believed to remain in the wild.
