KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday busted a gang of four persons on the charge of smuggling contraband wildlife and animal parts.
Jaya Narayan Raut (48), Ashok Kumar Keshari (19), Raju Kumar Yadav (21)—all residents of Bara district—and Binod Mahato (42) of Birgunj in Parsa district were arrested from Sundhara in the capital along with the tiger skin and bones.
Tiger is an endangered animal and trade on its body parts is prohibited.
According to the National Park and Wildlife Act 2029, wildlife poachers and smugglers can face a jail sentence for up to 15 years.
