Why? Because, as a rule they give birth to two, maximum three. In this case we have four.” The birth is an important event, especially as white tigers are so rare. “There are only a very few white tigers in the world and – there are only a little over 100 in the world, so their birth in captivity is always a big event in the life of a zoo

“We’ve had the birth of four wonderful baby (tigers). One of them is actually an albino. Usually tigers are white with black stripes, but there are also albinos without black stripes. This is a joyful event in the life of the zoo, we were waiting for it impatiently and we’re glad that the babies are healthy, strong, and today are being held by zoo caretakers,” The mother tiger, named ‘Tigrulya’ in honour of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, was presented to the zoo in 2009 after Tymoshenko was given a Bengal cub by the organizers of a Ukrainian charity festival. A contest is being held to name the four newborn cubs.
