There are updates in the fight for Peter Renzo to bring his tigers to our area and open a new facility hosting Siberian tigers.
A Blackfoot judge rules that the decision to spay and neuter his tigers was arbitrary and based on lawful procedure. After this ruling in May, they filed a request for attorney’s fees and they won. Just the other day, they received about eight-thousand dollars back from the state. The judge explained there was no based for the state to do what they did.
Tiger Pete and his attorney have also filed a separate tort claim for damages incurred as a result of their previous decision which hasn’t been determined yet.
“We believe that the judge’s decision re-affirms what he initially decided and hopefully the state of Idaho would see that,” said Nick Nielson, Tiger Pete’s Attorney.
The state of Idaho has to go back and set new criteria for bringing tigers to our area. They’re still waiting until January or February when new rules will be set before Tiger Pete can bring his tigers in.
