Coordinator Report – Lynda Licht
Definitely, a Sunday where we had to hit the ground running. A few people were out sick and/or traveling, so we all worked steadily throughout the day to get things done. Lauren Buckingham came in to cover AM meds even though she was to have the day off. Thanks so much for that.
Brittany Mira is now able to do the Keeper tour on her own, and so she did! After training Lacy Benton on feeding center route, Brittany led the tour, handed out leftover enrichment and cicles and cleaned the E cabin.
Rebecca Williams led the Feeding tour and then cleaned Leopards/Funcation and Tiger Row sections and doublechecked Outback. She was happy to get in some cleaning time as she’s been our Keeper tour go-to person for several weeks.
Sarah Copel fed Front route with Tanya Chute and then cleaned Outback before being called in to do a Kids tour. In between the Kids tour and then doing a 3 pm tour, she doublechecked Front littles. Sarah is next in line to get signed off for Keeper tour so I hope she gets the chance in the upcoming weeks.
Lacy Benton cleaned Front littles and then double checked Center littles. We had no other keepers/trainees today so intern Christina Cochard cleaned center before being needed for a kids tour. These sections are big for a single cleaner, so great job ladies.
MC Streator came in to feed and she got to help Kathyrn Stapleton with those crazy cougar cubs who are in Funcation.
We had a large workgroup from St. Leo college swim team and Tanya and Caity Farr supervised them as they cleaned out and around two more of the Rehab cages. It looks really great out there.
Lisa Spencer-Novak, Barbara Brooks, Ashley Tait, Regina Turgeon, Edith Parker, Brooklynne Dillon, Marilyn Halpin, and several new partner trainees kept full tours going throughout the day.
Due to the limited volunteers we had, I also pitched in cleaning some enclosures and double-checking. It’s always nice to get out amongst the cats even while I’m coordinating. I felt very accomplished when Hoover came over to eat mid-morning and then came into his roofed section for me. As we were expecting some high winds, we put all the cats into the roofed sections as a precaution.
Rebecca and I started food prep and it was finished out by Tanya.
As I said we all did a little bit of everything. We’re so lucky to have such a versatile and hard-working team.

Open the app, point your phone at the screen right now and the app will scan this Ocelot photo. Then simply click the play button to see Ocelots come to life right there on your phone. Turn the volume way up and wait for the AMAZING Ocelot sounds.

Videos of the Day
Smalls the Bobcat was observed by her keeper as only chewing on one side of her mouth. This can sometimes indicate the cat has pain or a bad tooth on the side of their mouth they are avoiding. As Smalls Bobcat has had dental issues in the past, Dr. Justin came to take a look and see what he could do to help. This looks AMAZING if you wear Oculus Go, HTC Vive, Rift, Cardboard or any other sort of HMD. Get our inexpensive headset and support the cats at the same time at BigCatRescue.org/VR
You can donate to the cats at NO COST TO YOU when you select BCR as your charity on Amazon Smile and shop Smile.Amazon.com instead of Amazon.com. It is exactly the same as regular Amazon EXCEPT when you use the Smile URL Amazon donates .5% of your purchase to BCR. It’s added up to over $89,000 for the cats!
Please visit BigCatRescue.org/amazon-smile for how to sign up and let me know you did so I can thank you. 🙂
