Big Cat Updates

HEADS UP Monday is the regular day the vets are at the sanctuary. This next Monday we will be sedating:

• Visiting cougar for a follow-up exam
• Loki Savannah for being extra finicky and chewing weird
• Pharaoh Serval due to his limp

May 18th plans are to do a root canal for Frankie Bobcat, a dental recheck on Alpha Bobcat, and a possible dental on a tiger.

King Tut’s biopsy results came back for his mass and it was a benign cyst.

AR ZOO Updates

We are having a Cole & Marmalade grand opening event for kitten/cat adoptions for St. Francis Animal Hospital from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM.  I believe Cole & Marmalade have some goodies to hand out and Big Cat Rescue’s Denny Mitchell and or Bethany Smith will be there all decked out in the lion costume ready to have some fun. COME JOIN US!!!

Bobcat Rehab Update

From Jamie Veronica: Sky seems irritated by Alphas presence, so we shut Alpha out of the small section and 1st medium section. Sky now has access to both small sections and her first medium section. Sky then carried one of the babies into the middle section and let it run around for a bit then they went back to the den.

CamOp Kristine Metzner’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Report: Good morning! It was a quiet night last night. Sky napped out on the grass in the left part of the BRIC area for a while, where she could still see the opening to the den. So sweet. Even when she is having some alone time, she still makes sure she can see and hear her babies. What a good Momma!

She wandered around the middle section, investigating everything and digging in the grass. She seemed much calmer overnight and didn’t really try to find a way out and she also didn’t pay much attention to Alpha.

Earlier in the day, she took a baby to the den in the middle section and he made his way back to the wood den. It was so cute!

The babies wandered around the area outside the den opening for a little bit, then made their way back into the den to nurse and nap after Sky went in to bathe them.

She napped with them for quite a while and as it is getting light out, she is now back out watching everything around her.

She was climbing up the enclosure walls a little bit ago, but not frantically or for very long. It was so good to see her enjoying her night a little! 🙂
