Smalls Bobcat Update
Smalls Bobcat is starting to act like herself again. She ate about half of her diet and took a couple of treats from the feeding stick. This afternoon she played with her spice bag, checked out her new/old tree stump and ran around a bit. The grudge is starting to fade but she is still paranoid over every little noise so it’ll just take some more time ❤️?❤️
Another WIN FOR CATS!!

The USDA finally agreed to something NEAVS supporters have demanded for over a year: End the kitten-killing experiments taking place at the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (USDA ARS) in Maryland, and adopt out the remaining animals. Outreach at Eckerd College’s Sustainability Festival
This past Saturday, Denny was kind to take the lead at Eckerd College’s Sustainability Festival on campus. The college has always been supportive of our mission, and some of their students have volunteered at the sanctuary. Denny is a superstar when it comes to outreach events and regularly offers to help when I’m having trouble getting coverage. Thanks, Denny, for tabling at the event and sharing our mission!

Coordinator Report – Kathryn Stapleton
Great day today. Started out a little cool but warmed up quick.
Thanks to Marie Schoubert, Cindy Kuharek, Susan Reed, Amanda Fenick, Mary Jerome, Phyllis Middaugh, for coming in to feed and clean. Thanks to Jennie Jamison, Liz, and Honey for doing tours and helping in the gift shop. Tanya Chute and helpers got food prep done before lunch.
We were full for afternoon tours so Caity Christina and Brooklynne were busy but Amanda stayed late and helped Tanya finish the last 2 bubbles of Natalia’s cafe so she can go home tomorrow.
We also had 2 education tours.
Caity Farr and Brooklynne Dillon got to be a cougar by helping to put sand in a den. It’s a dirty job but much thanks for the hard work!
All the hospital cages were put away as well.
That’s it for me.
Kathryn
Note from Kitten Karma
Special thank you today to Caity Farr and Tanya Chute who backed up Jen’s special group tours. Also thanks to Elizabeth Heath and Honey Wayton for coming in to do tours.
Huge way to go and high five to Jennie Jamison. Not only did she do a private and regular day tour, she also watched the gift shop while I was in three different meetings and busted out a bunch of labeling and put merch out on the floor. Thank you!!!
Video NOT By Big Cat Rescue
This video was not made by Big Cat Rescue but we saw it on YouTube today. I’d love to meet the woman who created this video. While she used humor effectively to convey who I think Joe Exotic really is, she also had some amazing archives of video to show how he was instructing others in the industry to mislead their USDA inspectors.
At the trial, witnesses who had been in the cub selling industry for more than 20 years testified that USDA never comes after them because they just mark the box called Donation on the transfer forms, and quietly take cash under the table. There is a network of illegal wildlife traffickers, here in the U.S., who were exposed in this trial and I really hope USFWS and USDA put them all in cages, just like what these breeders and cub petters have done to thousands of lions, tigers, ligers and other big cats.
Punkin Update
Many of you followed the rescue story of Punkin the orphaned squirrel. I’m happy to report he is thriving in the wild and has made lots of new squirrel friends ?
