Coordinator Report – Lauren Buckingham

Great day today with a lot of help.

Steph K, Fred, and Nikki started work on the roof section of Nikki Lions enclosure. Bridget, Bethany, and Steph K continued after lunch. We were unable to finish so she was given full access back overnight. MC and Mazz did food prep ready for flea prevention treatment tomorrow. MC also covered the radio while I was in the staff meeting

As there was limited feeding this morning, as the cats were fasted, Sue R and Mike did fly traps first thing. Bethany did a stick run. Bridget did AM supplements and then helped MC feed the non-fasting cats. Bethany did supplements PM. I and MC built drain covers for the 2 new tiger pools.

The rehab cages on the slab were cleaned. The squeeze cage was put away. Josh was here late afternoon and continued work on the cover between the hospitals. Ginger had some outside time on the porch of the recovery hospital. While she was out in her recovery cage, I took the opportunity to sweep and Swiffer the recovery hospital.

Cleaning and Operant sign-offs were done. Marie did PM cicle cats. We sent out 3 tours in the PM. Thank you to everyone that came to help with those

That’s it from me!

Medical Supplies For Big Cats, Facebook Fundraiser 77% toward the Goal for August

MANY of the cats at Big Cat Rescue are over the age of 20 which for lion, tigers, etc is really old and many take daily medications. For example, Keisha Tiger takes meds for her high blood pressure. Others take meds for old age issues such as arthritis etc. The on-site hospital and on-site recover hospital constantly has a need to re-stock supplies. Some of the old cats take pain meds. Some of the cats take special supplements. All these things add up to a huge bill throughout the year.

Then at times, there are special needs such as recently, Little Flint, the rehab wild bobcat kitten with a fractured neck that rescued from hunting dogs, required an off-site MRI which was $3,000. We have rented a Beemer Device at $600/mo for treatments for Flint, the rehab bobcat kitten.

NO donation is too small. Even $1 or $5 will add up! https://www.facebook.com/donate/517437599077567/10156312721301957/

Did you know, that at Big Cat Rescuer literally 100% of public donations received are spent JUST FOR the NEEDS for the CATS! Non-cat expenses such as salaries for the small staff NEVER come out of donations!

THANK YOU, for considering helping!

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Kitten Report

Malachite Report – Malachite was a little more mellow overnight. Early evening he napped in his hut and he kept waking up to listen to Flint play, lol.

Flint Report – Precious Flint is loving having free roam of his room! He plays and plays and plays until he wears himself out. He runs across the room carrying his stuffie around with him. It’s so cute!

Cinder and Ash Report – Ash and Cinder were hiding a lot of the afternoon and evening. During the afternoon they lounged and napped on top of the tall platform in the very back section. They played for a bit on the platform too, but that’s the only place I saw them until later overnight.
