Coordinator Report – Angie Gabor

Another hot ? August Day!

We got lots of cleaning sign-offs today. Nicole, June, and Julie all got sign-offs today. Thank you to Amanda and Stephanie for being excellent trainers.

After feeding and cleaning our awesome volunteers helped all throughout the sanctuary. Thanks, Rich for keeping our Food Prep air filters nice and clean and keeping the water pumps running. Maureen and Babs helped with operant sign offs, enrichment for the cats and giving out supplements.

Barbara, Amanda, June, and Stefanie did a great job clearing out branches all around the sanctuary. Stephanie K was a big help today doing food prep(assisted by Dylan and Abbey), picking up sticks and cleaning the Big hospital.

Thank you to Becky and Maureen for leading the Specialty Tours and to all our awesome partner volunteers that came in today and lead our day and kids tours.

Good day, all the way around!!!

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Kitten Report

Malachite – Sweet Malachite napped in the afternoon and then Devin came in to clean his cages and give him fresh water and a plate of food. After he left, Malachite wandered around and ate some of his dinner. He was in the back cage for a while, looking out the windows and listening to Flint. Then he settled down for a nice nap. Later he woke up and played and played! He played with his redbird stuffie, batting it around, he attacked his post and played around it and he stalked things in his cage.

He hunched down, stalked and then zoomed as fast as he could to the other side of his cage, then batted at his stuffie and bed, then he ran and leaped over his hut to the other side again. he went back and forth like that for a while, having so much fun! He slid all of his blankets, bed, and stuffie that is in his front cage, to the front end of that cage while playing, lol. It was so cute! Then he took a quick break and ate some more dinner. Then he played in his back cage with his hut, rolling it around. Then he ran back and forth through his cages, batting his stuffies before running the other way again, lol. He played for a while more, attacking his cat post and pushing all his blankets and stuffies into a pile, then he wore himself out and settled down for a long nap.

Later Malachite woke up and played some more with his stuffies and his hut. He stood on his hind legs and looked around the room, lol. So cute! Then he got into his hut to take another nap. As I write this, he is still napping in his hut. He is just too cute! 🙂

Have a wonderful Caturday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner

Flint – Precious Flint had a nice time outside getting some sunshine during the day, then in the afternoon he got back to his room and he, of course, played a bit before settling down to take a nice nap. He’s been liking to nap on the cat tree with the round top, it’s so cute! After a while, he woke up and went back to playing. He was very vocal and at one point just wandered around checking his things out and meowing. He’s so cute! Then he played with his palm tree, attacking it and hanging upside down from it, lol.

Then Devin came in to clean his room and give him fresh water and a plate of food. As soon as he let him out into his room again, he wandered around and then found his dinner. He played with some of it, flipping it in the air, before finally chowing down. Then after he ate he played some more, batting his stuffies around and carrying them in his mouth around the room. He ran around and played with the case holding the camera and then he sat and stared at the windows. The light was off, so he was able to see the light behind the shutters and that intrigued him.

After a bit he played a while longer then he got behind the camera and settled down for a long nap. While he was napping, he managed to unplug or knock his camera offline again. He did that in the early evening. Little adorable stinker! He’s too precious! 🙂 Since I couldn’t get very many photos before the camera went out, I also attached a few from a couple of days ago that I haven’t shared yet.

I wish you a wonderful Caturday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner

Ash and Cinder – Ash and Cinder were in their secret napping spot during the afternoon. Later in the late afternoon, Cinder came up to the front to wander around for a while and then she got up on the hanging self to lounge and then nap. She was so beautiful sitting up there in the sunlight. Ash stayed in the very back section and lounged and napped on top of the tall platform. After a while, Ash made his way to the front section to find Cinder. She got down off of the hanging shelf and they wandered around together, then they sat on the Coolaroo for a bit. They saw a squirrel in the tree again and stalked it for a little while, then Cinder paced the fence and Ash climbed it, lol.

They both wandered around the front and middle sections, they played a bit in the middle section and played on the logs. Then Ash went to the back sections and Cinder stayed up front to pace the fence for a bit before joining Ash in the back section. They wandered around back there for a short time and got up on the hanging logs for a little bit, then as it got dark they disappeared to their secret place to take a nap.

A while later they were back up front wandering around for a short time and then they went to the front left side and curled up in the grass by the pipe to nap some more. They were so adorable all cuddled up together! Later they woke up and went to the front right side and wrestled on the Coolaroo, then wandered around checking things out. They played some more and paced the fence. As I write this, they are again wandering around the front section, after playing on the hanging logs in the back section, and watching everything around them. They are too precious! 🙂

I wish all of you a wonderful Caturday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
