Bengal tiger dies in Indian zoo

CHANDIGARH: A royal Bengal tiger has died in a zoo at Chhatbir in the Patiala district of Punjab, Forest and Wildlife Department sources said on Saturday.

The nine-year-old tiger, which had been undergoing treatment for the last few days died on Friday’s night, sources said.

The animal had injured its vein after she had a fight with some other animal in the enclosure, zoo officials said.

While two white tigers – Saurabh and tigress Diya had died under mysterious circumstances in the zoo earlier, a Royal Bengal tiger had also succumbed to hepatitis.
