DES MOINES, Iowa — KCCI viewer Lisa Fry shares her Christmas story for 2007:

While out for a drive on Christmas Eve trying to busy our girls that couldn’t wait for Santa’s arrival, to our amazement we came across a Bobcat in a ditch.

While we were taking pictures of the beautiful cat rarely seen, we noticed that the cat was caught in a snare and was in trouble.

My husband called the local DNR they put us in touch with the Iowa Bobcat rescue out of Chariton.

Our girls were in tears thinking about the poor cat as we watched it for 2 hours while we waited for the rescue team. When the DNR agents showed up they were so relieved that the cat would be saved and their tears turned to excitement.

The agents quickly examined the situation, gave her a sedative to put her to sleep while they freed her. The cat was already tagged thought to be a recapture from earlier in the year. The cat was checked over and found to have no injuries and could be re-released in about an hour.

My girls, Kennady & Kamren Fry, were lucky enough to get to hold the animal they had just helped save. (pictured, right)

This will definitely be an experience and a Christmas Eve they will never forget!!

As we drove away knowing the cat would be ok the girls started talking about how Santa was definitely going to bring them lots of presents now for doing something so great!  I thought this would be a great Christmas story.
