JUNAGADH: Sakkarbag Zoo authorities will soon be sending two pairs of tigers and leopards a male-female pair each to Indroda Nature Park in Gandhinagar.

“Sakkarbag Zoo is the only zoo in India to house all four members of the big cat family lion, tiger, leopard and cheetah. This zoo provides the perfect climate and setting to the big cats for mating. It’s the centre from where the animals have been sent to zoos across the country,” said an official of the zoo.

“The zoo has recently received an African cheetah pair from Singapore zoo, and three Asiatic Lions were sent in exchange. This apart, two Asiatic lions were sent to Kankariya zoo in Ahmedabad,” the official added.

Meanwhile, authorities in Indroda nature park said preparations were being made to provide the new arrivals an ideal setting in the park. “Authorities at Indroda had mooted a proposal to keep tigers in the park, which is now being fulfilled,” said an official from Indroda.
