A new white tiger cub made its home at the Mirage, where Legendary Las Vegas Strip performers Siegfried and Roy perform.
The animal got all settled in, when the legendary performers knew something was missing. The little girl cub didn’t have a name. So to complete the job of giving him a name, the duo turned to some local kids.
A first grade class from Moore Elementary and a third grade class from Charlotte Hill Elementary were among the lucky kids, who got a chance to submit a name for her.
After careful consideration the kids came up with the name Star. And during their visit to the Secret Garden, one of the winners explained why Star was the winning choice.
“We named the tiger Star because the white tigers come out in the night under the stars.” student Gonzalo Lopez, tells Eyewitness News. “And they go to sleep during the day and its called nocturnal, and they go under the stars so nobody can see them.”
The kids were treated to an ice cream breakfast, before they took a picture with Siegfried and Roy, and their newly named Tiger.
