Enrichment for Lions, Tigers, Leopards and Cougars

Enrichment for Lions, Tigers, Leopards and Cougars

Enrichment is very important, and also very expensive, for captive big cats. These “indestructible” big balls are $200 a piece. They’re intended for soccer-style play, to encourage healthful exercise as an alternative to destructive chewing, pacing, and other undesirable behaviors. The balls have rigid sidewalls which are resistant, but not impervious, to chewing and scratching.

Watch as Flavio, Shere Khan, Zabu, Cameron, Bengali, Snorkel, Ares, Reno, and Sylvester of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL show how much fun they have playing with their balls!  Video by Big Cat Rescuer Julie Hanan.
