CINCINNATI — An African wild cat found in Blanchester has been returned to its owner.Eris, a female serval, was found inside a barn on Tuesday morning hovering over a domestic cat it had just killed. Servals are medium-sized cats related to lions.

“I’ve never been afraid of an animal, but I will definitely say I was taken aback from this one,” Anthony Topmiller told WLWT after finding Eris.Animal control officers picked up and Eris and cared for the cat until she was returned to her owner, who asked not to be identified.
Eris’ owner said the cat escaped from her home nine days ago. The owner said Eris lost weight while she was missing and has some scrapes on her paws, but is otherwise OK.It is legal to own a serval in Ohio. Eris’ owner said she has double checked her doors to make sure Eris doesn’t escape again.
