Rehab Bobcat Wyeth – Late Feb 13

We got an emergency call around 11:30 PM 2/13/2017 that a seven to eight month old female Florida Bobcat was hit by a car.

When a couple accidentally hit this little 8 month old bobcat, they called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s department for help. Deputy Wyeth had been to Big Cat Rescue before and scooped the broken little body up and rushed her to our front gate, where he called our emergency line to Carole’s mother, Mary Stairs, who got Jamie and Dr. Justin up to come help. Her Xrays look good, so Dr. Justin Boorstein stitched up some minor wounds and we will give her some time to heal before sending her back to the wild.

You can help us help precious bobcats like her by funding our bobcat rehab expansion program at BigCatRescue.org/rehabfund

X-Rays do not show anything broken.  She has a cut on her tongue.  She received stitches on her tongue and on a little cut on the inside of her let.  She was treated.  She will get flea treatment, vaccines, etc.   This video aired live last night as the emergency was taking place.

Rehab Bobcat Wyeth Feb 14th Update ONE

Wyeth the Bobcat is Breaking our Hearts on this Valentine’s Day at Big Cat Rescue

When a couple accidentally hit this little 8 month old bobcat, they called the Pinellas County Sheriff’s department for help. Deputy Wyeth had been to Big Cat Rescue before and scooped the broken little body up and rushed her to our front gate, where he called our emergency line.

Jamie and Dr. Justin Boorstein arrived on the scene, 10 minutes later, to witness this brave deputy, pulling the very angry bobcat from the back seat of his vehicle.

The Big Cat Rescue vet team worked until the wee hours of the morning today, on Valentine’s Day, and were encouraged that the little bobcat, who was named Wyeth, after the deputy who saved her, seemed to be in pretty good shape.

But later this morning, when we set up a second cage to transfer Wyeth into more space, we watched the broken little bobcat drag herself to the other side, and our hearts just sank.  We don’t know if this is temporary or permanent.

We are still hopeful for a good prognosis, and you can help keep an eye on her via the live webcam and see the videos and photos of her at http://bigcatrescue.org/wyeth/

We will post updates there, so please visit that page for more information and to keep track of her progress.

YOU CAN HELP – FREE – Clearing Up Confusion

YOU Can Help us save injured wild bobcats like the one above and It won’t cost you a single cent, either.

There has been some confusion on how to vote.

Please, do NOT sign up as a new volunteer at the contest page because that will NOT help the cats win.

The ONLY VOTES that count for us are the votes for Big Cat Rescue’s Robert McGivney

Instructions on How to Make YOUR Vote Count

The 2017 Valspar PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge contest is underway and we would love for you to vote for Big Cat Rescue! Thanks to all of your votes in this contest last year, Big Cat Rescue won over $50,000! The money we win this year will be used to fund our new bobcat rehab area!

You can only vote ONCE; final day to vote is March 11, 2017. Contest is open for residents of the U.S. and Canada (except Quebec) only.

 HOW TO VOTE:

  1. Step 1 – Vote here: VoteCats.com
  2. Step 2 – Select Big Cat Rescue’s Robert McGivney and VOTE!

  • Step 3 – Validation Email

You should receive a Validation Email to click to confirm your vote. There have been a few technical problems with this. Sometimes the email does not come immediately or at all. Sometimes when it comes, the link is not clickable and has to be cut/paste into a browser, and occasionally even that does not work. But, we are assured by the PGA that the votes count regardless – they have someone manually reviewing votes to make sure there are no duplicates. If you do not get the email, the way you can tell for sure if your vote counted is to try again – you should get a message saying you already voted. But please DO NOT try to trick the system by voting more than once with different contact info.

The email will look like this:

 PLEASE KNOW

This is a legitimate contest put on by legitimate companies.  Prize funds are provided by medical field related companies.

It is NOT a scam.

Entering your info does not land you on spammer lists because none of us got spam last year from participating in this contest.  Also, any email the medical company proving the prize money may send you later has a simple “Unsubscribe” link.

This is a quick easy way to help the cats win up to $65,000 for the wild bobcat rehab and release fund.

We would NEVER ask you to participate in anything that was not completely above board and legitimate.

Thank you for your support of our sanctuary and our cats!!

You can share this contest on your social sites using one of these photos and the link VoteCats.com
