Big Cat Updates
2/17/2017 Looks who’s outside in the new rehab enclosure! Nova! ~Jamie
Each of the new rehab enclosures are 4,600 square feet (almost 4x bigger than our old rehab enclosures) Nova only has access to the first part of this enclosure that is customized for kittens or injured bobcats that require time to heal. It also has a lower roof so if the bobcats climb they can not get too high up. This introductory section is 10′ long by 20′ wide so 200 square feet.
2/16/2017 – We are closed on Thursdays which is a great day of the week to get a lot of projects done. Today interns and volunteers helped remove old Christmas trees and Valentine’s enrichment from the enclosures. We also put a new toy ball in Priya’s enclosure as a surprise for when she comes home from vacation. ~Jamie

Our domestic cat/kitten fostering program has had over 400 cats/kittens saved so far.
Bently, Tyler, Dean and Jade have all passed their SNAP tests and can go to the Kitten Cabana! It will be scary for them, kind of like the first day of school, so interns will arrange time to make them feel comfortable.
They will need to know where the food, water and litter pans are, as well as the toys. They will soon discover it’s a fun place to be. They will need to be checked in on several times during the day to make sure they are settling in alright and have plenty of food and water.
YOU CAN watch the kittens on the live web cam at: http://explore.org/live-cams/player/big-cat-rescue-kitten-cabana Note To Viewers: If you lose this link to the Kitten Cabana web cam you can always find it again at BigCatCams.com
Thank you and have fun!
Sharing a smile with this special boy, Zeus Tiger. Keeper Rebecca W.
PURR-sonally, I am always so touched by just how deeply these amazing keepers truly love the cats in their care. Remember, these keepers work for free, totally free! Many of them have been coming year after year no matter how hot and humid, or how hard it is raining. They show up when it is cold or when it is crazy windy. They always work with a big smile on their faces even when they are digging through some cat’s poop looking for clues, or when they are carrying heavy buckets, or whatever the task at hand it.
Gale has been working on a special place for the keepers to take breaks and grab a cup of tea or coffee and a quick snack. She is hoping to have it finished next week. One you YOU Totally Pawsome Viewers used Smile.Amazon.com and gave the keepers a wonderful gift of snacks, coffee, and tea! Thank you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!!! for acknowledging the keepers with such a thoughtful gift. They are going to REALLY ENJOY it!!!!
2/14/2017 Moses Bobcat getting snacks. You can see he is keeping to cone on.
