Big Cat Updates

Seth Tiger Updates

From Carole: Seth chuffed at Kathryn today and ate a couple of pieces of food. Working on getting meds into him now. He enjoyed being sprayed with the hose (It’s 83 degrees).

Excerpts from Brittany’s LIVE Q & A video this morning: “I helped care for Seth this morning.  He is more alert and more responsive.  He is not out of the woods yet but is resting.  He is getting up for drinks of water. and he chuffed at me and Kathryn.”  Hear it better in Brittany’s own words in the “Morning Q & A Walkabout” video linked below.

From Lauren Grant: Seth has an air conditioner at his enclosure.

REQUEST – PLEASE, stay positive.  The keepers and vets are keeping a very close eye on Seth and doing all that can be done.  Remember, a while back when Keisha Tiger had a bout with high blood pressure.  It took her a bit to recover so please keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming for Seth.

If you want to do something to encourage keepers and staff, one of the best things you can do is get on over to BigCatAct.com and make those Calls of the Wild and get out there and ask your friends and family to make the calls too.  Seeing the number of calls skyrocket would be a real highlight in our day!

SERIOUSLY, YOU making those calls of the wild this week would truly be equal to giving staff and keepers a GREAT BIG HUG!!!

Zucari Serval is still in the recover hospital and is getting feisty.  Also more in Brittany’s morning Q & A video below.

Alpha, the young rehab bobcat, is still in cage rest in the recovery hospital due to her limp.  Remember, she is the one who had to have jaw surgery after she arrived here.  The vet will soon do a follow-up exam on her jaw recovery to help determine if she is a candidate for release back into the wild.

Many of you are asking about Zabu and how she is doing.  She is doing great and nothing in her behavior has changed.  Keepers are giving her extra attention and the enrichment team will ensure lots of extra enrichment is she starts showing any signs of loneliness.  But at this point, she does not seem to be acknowledging his absence.  Brittany also discusses this in her Q & A video below.

Alexa Flash Briefing

Carole talks about why Nabisco Bobcat and Running Bear Bobcat traded enclosures.  She also talks about the first BigCatRescue.org/ar-zoo/ which is the first one of its kind and will be opening in March.

Coordinator Report – Lauren Grant

It was flea meds day ? so feeding took a little longer today. Good news is most of the cats took at least most of their pill. Thank you to all the dedicated feeders who helped today!

The front two bubbles of King Tut’s enclosure were raked and grass seeded. Thanks to Fred Pagan, Moe Mahamud, Mazz, Christina Cochard, Candy Couser, & Mark Mira for getting those done! The other bubble and the tour path still need to be raked.  The interns also raked up around the Kitten Cabana, so it now looks great!

Michael Heap went weed-eating crazy and cleaned up around food prep, the guest parking lot, and cleared a larger path behind Seth’s enclosure! Thanks!

Seth has an air conditioner at his enclosure.

Priya was moved out to vacation!

Thanks everyone for all you’re help today!!

WOWZER!!! L@@K What YOU Did!!!

Big Cat Rescue has been notified that a $26,643.24 donation from the AmazonSmile Foundation as a result of AmazonSmile program activity between October 1 and December 31, 2018.

ALL OF YOU DID THIS!!  YOU MADE THIS HAPPEN!!

When you log into your Amazon.com account through Smile.Amazon.com and choose Big Cat Rescue, Corp. as your chosen charity then Amazon donates a percentage of your purr-chase price to the cats here at NO COST to you!

SOMETHING to make that even easier is a browser extension for Google Chrome.  This is what I use because I sometimes forget to go to Smile.Amazon.com instead of Amazon.com.  This browser extension was so easy to add and has never created any trouble.  But, now when I forget and go to Amazon.com it automatically loads Smile.Amazon.com instead.  Since I purr-sonally buy my cat food, cat litter, dog food, laundry soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, well everything, through Amazon this browser extension has really helped me. LOL, I never have time to go to the store so this way it comes right to my porch.

Make it easier using the browser extension Smilematic which will automatically redirect you to AmazonSmile whenever you shop at Amazon!

Here’s Big Cat Rescue’s custom link: https://couponfollow.com/smilematic#59-3330495

And finally here’s a quick example video of what another cause has done.  The video is only a few seconds long and shows you how quick and simple it is to get and use this extension.  I installed it once which was FAST and painless and never even think about it again.  I just go to Amazon and the cats never get left out even when I forget to go to smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE this extension.

Are YOU Making A Difference?

Are you still making the Calls of the Wild, every week, at BigCatAct.com? Are you offering to help your friends and family make the calls too? PLEASE, watch this 30-second video to see it is reminds/motivates you to keep making that weekly call.

Another thing about shopping on Amazon, you can switch from Amazon.com to Smile.Amazon.com and the items in your cart will be there. So if you forget, you can make a quick URL change and still be able to contribute towards BCR.
