Another Sunday Funday in the books.
We started off a little light on senior keepers but those we had know how to get things done. Desmond did the Feeding Tour and Rebecca did the Keeper Tour. Tanya went for a sign-off. She and Dylan will need sign-offs going forward as they near the end of their level 3 (how is that possible already!!!???) Rich Bluder, Des, and Intern Fred Pagan cleaned bigs and then Fred finished food prep with Mazz, who had busted out most of it.
Intern Susana Zhong came in on her last day to do a Private Tour and say farewell to the cats and to us. New interns Moe Mahamud and Caity Farr were backing up tours for Lisa Spencer-Novak and Jennie Jamison and taking classes as they conclude their first week with us.
We had several yellow shirts – Lacy Benton took her feeding class. Amanda Fenick did her first feeding observation and got a cougar cleaning sign-off with Mary Jerome and Mary took her operant class. Lots of sign-offs in the future for all of them. They also cleaned the littles along with Deidra Ritchie.
The big event of the day was Nikita lioness’s birthday. We gave her a sicle on a stick and all the volunteers on the property came out to sing Happy Birthday to her. It’s on Facebook so go check it out.
Not to be outdone by HRL, our boy Cameron lion received a whole turkey today for him to enjoy – which he thoroughly did. He was seen eating from it several times. Rebecca and I had some laughs and thrills as we tried to convince him to leave it so we could retrieve it late in the day.
Later in the day interns raked the tour path near Apollo and Running Bear before doing chores.

This was the first party that was presented by our new Volunteer Appreciation Team and judging by the smiles and applause, I think it was a huge success. Thank you for all you do for the cats!
