BHOPAL: Karan — the magnificent white tiger at the Van Vihar National Park — died around 00:30 a.m. on Sunday.

It had been suffering from indigestion and fever since last Thursday. Initially, it responded to treatment but its condition deteriorated on Saturday. Karan was brought here from the Sanjay Gandhi National Park at Borivali in Mumbai along with Rashmi, the tigress from the same litter, on April 11.

They were born on April 21, 2005. The two were brought here under a white tiger exchange programme.

In return, two tigers were sent to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

According to National Park Director J.S. Chauhan, Karan’s the post-mortem examination has been videographed and four samples of all visceral organs have been sent for toxicology examination to the State Veterinary Laboratory here, the college of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Jabalpur, and the Forensic Science Laboratory in Sagar.
