Accused convicted in leopard skin seizure case

The accused convicted in leopard skin seizure from Uttar Pradesh has been sentenced for 4 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 11000/-. The accused Sumiran S/o Mahavir, R/o Village Bhadehar, PS Taulihawa, District Kapilwastu was arrested in 2007 by the Forest Department , Uttar Pradesh with a leopard skin in Siddharth Nagar district. A Range Case was lodged under section 9,39,44 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act- 1972.
The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau pursued and provided technical assistance to the Forest Department officials was closely monitoring for successful prosecution.
