Big Cat Updates

With the impending wind storm and cooler temperatures predicted tomorrow, we will be keeping the kittens home. It looks like Monday will be more of the same, but I’ll keep my eye on the weather. Thank you! -Kitten Karma

Patty, Penny, & Phoenix foster kittens have all found their furever homes! Keep fingers crossed that Pandora will find her own home soon!

Due to expected high winds overnight and tomorrow, the cats with open-air enclosures have been locked in the roofed section. All except for Hoover.

Canned Hunts – Where do YOU Stand on this Important Issue?

BREAKING NEWS: Undercover investigation exposes illegal wildlife items for sale at Safari Club International’s 2019 convention and “canned” lion hunts for sale.

“One conference attendee told the investigators that he and his children
participated in a canned hunt, killing “their” lion within 90 minutes. Canned hunt operators described baiting lions with meat, which they said they could do ahead of a trophy hunter’s arrival, to save time arrival, to save time.” Via Humane Society International and HSI USA.

Read more about this…

Will YOU be Part of the Change?

Sadly, the people who pay to pet cubs or paying to ‘walk with lions’ are unknowingly feeding the canned hunt industry. When cubs get too big to be pimped out for photo ops the next step for them is quite often being used in canned hunts.

If you seriously are disgusted by canned hunts then getting active in helping end the cub petting and cub photo ops will be the first steps toward ending canned hunts.

So, where do YOU STAND? Are you sitting back waiting and just assuming someone else to step up and do it?  You know, they just might be sitting back waiting FOR YOU to act.

Want to take the first step toward ending canned hunts?

It is SO EASY and costs you NOTHING except a few minutes of your time!!

Go to BigCatAct.com and let lawmakers know you want the Big Cat Public Safety Act passed into law.

Exciting News!!

Coordinator Report – Angie Gabor

It was a beautiful day today!! The weather was great and we had lots of volunteers that helped us take great care of the cats.

This morning Amanda, Barbara, Andrew, Lacy, Alyssa, and Mary helped raked the front little section. But I do have to say that Intern Mazz was the superstar who went back and picked up the majority of the piles that were raked by the previous Keepers. Thank you all for helping to keep the sanctuary in good shape for our cats!

We got sign-offs today for cougar cleaning and operant conditioning.

Candy, Amanda, Mary, and Susanna did a good job of getting food prep done today with a very thorough double check from Dylan.

Thank you to all the volunteers that came out today and helped all over the sanctuary. Helping with cleaning, feeding, regular tours, specialty tours, raking, cutting down plants, preparing meals, and all the other things we did today.

All this love, so that our cats live happy lives!❤️

-Angie
