My whole heart looking adorable and pathetic in her hospital cage ? Smalls is having another episode of hair loss on her back foot and she is so mad in the hospital that she won’t eat… but I got some purrs out of her today and hopefully the Dr. can help her feel better tomorrow.

Coordinator Report – Jennifer Ruszczyk

Hot day today but we still had a great group of hard-working interns and volunteers. Candice Casey Stephanie Witherspoon and Lacy Benton cleaned all the little cat sections Lacy Benton also cleaned cougars. Candice and Stephanie cleaned the windows in the kitten cabana so our guests could see them.

Matt Ruszczyk,Brittany Mira, Rebecca Williams, and Sarah Copel cleaned all the big cat sections. Lynda Licht and Dylan Lavigne lead the keeper tour and Matt lead the feeding tour. Fred Pagan, Mazz Amirat, Kate O’Gorman, Monisha Prem,a Erin Payne, and Jennifer Ruszczyk all worked throughout the day on the empty tiger cages.

Lynda and Rebecca signed interns and volunteers off on enrichment and operant conditioning. Erin took her map test and got 100%, great job! Jennifer Holley and Darren Holley fixed a platform in funcation. They were going to work on Lovey’s platform but she would not cooperate.

Finally, Karma Hurworth Edith Parker and the whole gift shop crew kept everything running awesome in the gift shop and tours.

Great day but I am pooped!!

Afton and Rich rescued the angry snake who showed his/her gratitude by biting Afton.

Facebook Fundraiser Thoughts

Priya loves morning and afternoon swims.

Luxury items like pools for the tigers are made possible by all of you. Some people think they can’t do a Facebook Fundraiser because it is not their birthday or because they think they might not raise very much. Don’t let that stop you!!!

Maintaining the tiger pools and the water circulation pumping system are some of those regular ongoing expenses most people don’t realize even exists.

A few examples of other expenses most people don’t think about are: Maintaining wagons for the feeding routes, cleaning supplies for cleaning the cat’s feeding tiles, bags, tongs, and buckets for poop pickup, replacing water buckets the big cats demolish, medications that many of the older cats take daily like high blood pressure meds, arthritis meds, occasionally replacing the bowls and lids we use to separate out each cat’s special diets, mini Ziploc bags that daily meds are sorted and labeled into, and the list goes on and on…

Did you know that last year, July 2018 was our biggest month EVER on Facebook when 863 people did a Facebook Fundraiser and honestly, the majority of those raised less than $50 each and many raised less than $10 to $20? However, when all those were combined a total of an amazing $47,000 was raised for the care of the cats. So you see, EACH and EVERY Facebook Fundraiser is crucially important because every little amount adds up.

FYI: 47,000 divided by 863 equals is 54. That means the average Fundraiser was $54. Again, many were under $20, and many were under $10. So, don’t think you have to raise big amounts, because every bit makes a difference.

For July 2019 we are way under the numbers of July 2018. Will you consider doing a Facebook Fundraiser in honor your favorite cat?
