Coordinator Report – Karma Hurworth

I just wanted to give a shout out to my awesome team of partners today! In addition to private tours, we also had an Educational Tour. Pam Rodriguez did one of the private tours, while Lisa Spencer-Novak got her very first private tour under her belt and did the second one. Diana Rao backed up the Educational Tour. This prevented us from having to “steal” from the Keeper side.

We got an unexpected delivery of kitty couches. Diana, Lisa & Pam got right to it and helped unload them, then rearranged the stock rooms so they could be stored. All in time for afternoon tours! Diana also made sure new volunteer, Sarah Garcia, got some kitten time in. This allowed me to finish the eyeball deep stack of Prime Day orders I needed to ship.

Between all these awesome Partners, we only needed to use one intern for afternoon tours, leaving everyone else available for projects.

Thank you, ladies! You are my heroes!

Coordinator Report – Lauren Buckingham

Another hot day today and very buggy!

Candy and the interns worked on the empty enclosure across from Des. They finished it up and made a start on the next one, opposite Diablo. Hospital cats ate well today! Abbey and Nisha did food prep before lunch.

The interns rearranged the meat freezer for a red delivery tomorrow. The new, small hospital recovery cage was put together by Mazz and Dylan. It is over by the workshop for Victor to do some alterations.

Victor found an injured Ibis in the field by the party house. We caught it and Bethany took it to a see a vet. Intern Erin P took her feeding class. Some more appeal letters were done. Bethann and Cindy did PM cicles. As karma mentioned we had some great partners to help cover tours!

Huge thank you to everyone that came in today to help feed, clean and help out with all other aspects of the day.

That’s it from me!

Rehab Bobcat Kitten, Flint had an MRI

Flint Update – Thanks to all our amazing donors that we could spend the $3,800.00 necessary for Flint Bobcat to get the MRI he needed. The only thing they found was the broken neck. Sending off the spinal tap for testing. For now, the only thing that can be done is to keep him quiet (small cage) and feed him a proper diet, in the hopes he can heal himself. Surgery was not advisable and the results are being sent off to yet another radiologist, just in case anything was missed. — with Laura Diodati at Levine Veterinary Neurology.

Flint Update - Thru the MRI we have discovered a fractured vertebrae in the neck region c7 now on to his lower spine. — with Laura Diodati at Levine Veterinary Neurology

Here is an image captured during the MRI showing Flint’s fractured vertebrae.

Flint Bobcat - Here is a image captured during the MRI showing Flints fractured vertebrae.

This image with contrast shows the inflammation (the brighter area). This inflammation could be causing the majority of Flint’s lameness. Hopefully, steroids will help ease this and cage rest will help Flint heal.

At the conclusion of the MRI we found a fractured vertebrae c7. His imaging results will be reviewed by radiologists as well to ensure nothing was missed. In the meantime, a spinal tap was performed to test for infection, infectious disease or cancer. In addition both of his knee caps have a significant amount of “play” due to his rear leg bones suffering from curvature as a result of his hunched gait. He will be on hospital cage rest for the next 7 days.
