We would LOVE for you to join us July 20-23 in Washington, DC to learn how you can advocate for animal issues, including the plight of captive big cats, and lobby for animals on Capitol Hill. Meet Carole Baskin and several more Big Cat Rescue folks and attend Howard Baskin’s presentation on big cats at this important conference!

TAFA brings together advocates from across the country for a shared goal: to better the lives of animals and people alike. Participants gain a better understanding of the many issues animals face in our society and learn how to take action in their communities through lobbying, education and other citizen advocacy.
Visit takingactionforanimals.org for more information and to register. Great Day Today!!! It was steamy but we had a great crew that smiled throughout the whole day!!
We had lots of tours today and both specialty tours! The rain stayed away from tour times for the most part and it made it a very pleasant tour day!
We had a wonderful workgroup that cleared and cleaned all the dens and platforms in Ginger’s enclosure. Red Shirts, Mai and Steph W, stayed after cleaning and helped finish the platforms in the enclosure. The workgroup also cleared out all the fallen tree trims behind Kali’s enclosure.
Rebecca was a great trooper today and after cleaning helped with food prep, gave snacks to cats, and made lots of cicles.
Picky eaters were a challenge today.
Thank You everyone for a Great Day!
That’s it for me! [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Sue Messineo’s Coordinator Notes for 7/14/2018
The weather stayed dry through the morning tours, feeding, and cleaning. A couple of volunteers and interns had just started to clean up the front of Pharaoh’s enclosure when the skies opened up. Had to cancel the afternoon tours due to heavy downpours and lightening. Andre, Arthur, and Hoover ate great today. The Interns got to leave just a bit early today to go to “Paint for Paws” at the mall.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Afton’s Coordinator Notes for 7/13/2018
Lots of help this morning to clean, feed, and get the specialty tours done! I was left with Abbey to work on food prep.
Unfortunately, it rained on and off all afternoon, so projects were not done. Also, most of the interns were doing tours.
A meat inventory was completed and the sheet was updated.
Simba ate 12 oz today!! His PM diet consisted of all raw meat, YAY!! I thawed his shrimp in a Tupperware and then added turkey to it in the AM. I went and put the meat in his bowl. The leftover juice I kept and cut up more turkey and put it in to soak. I “marinated” it in the cooler all day. In the PM I gave him the turkey that had been soaking, and he ate all of it in his feeding lockout. Both times he ran over to me and greeted me with excited meows. I was very happy to see that he is settling into life here at the sanctuary!
Lots of laundry was done today both in food prep and in staff offices. I was able to fill the cabinet in the recovery hospital with linens. I will be happy to do the laundry tomorrow in staff offices to help keep up with it![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
