Big Cat Updates

Keeper Angie’s Coordinator report for Sunday 7/2/17

Hot day today, but it was a good one. Lots of great volunteers.

The back platform side of Joseph’s enclosure was cleaned.  There is still more work to do on that side.  The shade cloth over the Texas Tiger’s last lockout was expanded and it now covers the back lockout.  We also added hammock beds to Mrs. Claws, Nabisco, Zucari and Desiree’s enclosures.

Enrichment sign offs and lots of operant conditioning was done this morning.

 Partner Report

We had a pretty eventful weekend.  The 3PM tour had a storm on Sunday and was cancelled.  Most guests rescheduled for Monday and Tuesday tours.  I think that we may be very busy and might need to open up extra tours….we have plenty of tour guides for that.  Chelsea or Karma can open extra tours up if needed.  The coke delivery will be delayed one day due to Independence day.  I have ordered some of the small powerades to restock the small fridges for guests in the breakroom, these will be stored with the other coke products.

I am expecting bug spray to arrive so please put both kinds that I bought on the table in the back yard. I have made the bug spray a recurring order so that we don’t have to worry about it each month.

The Hammermill boxes in the breakroom need to be recycled as well as the bags inside those boxes.  There are a few boxes with the extra cat treats in them, please put them into a bin in the storage shed.

Please restock as we didn’t get much time to do that this weekend.  More medium bags need to be stuffed to make sure they are ready for guests at checkout.  Carole has asked that we help keep the new gift shop clean while they are working to finish the inside.  There are many cans and such that we can clean up….this way these items won’t impede the completion process.  Thanks for helping with this.

We are putting together a memorial book about TJ with stories and photos of him, these are onsale for pre-order in our online store.  I have printed 73 orders for these so far.  They are bundled in the backorders cubbie by the printer in the mailroom.  You all are able to purchase these books.  Right now we have 100 available, but may be able to print more if more are needed.  The book will be completed and printed late July or early August.

We had lots of help on Thursday to relabel items and we completed the socks as well as the stuffed animals.  I will keep you all updated about when and what projects we will be working on as we get ready for the transition.

Thanks so much for all of your help with all of the changes that are going on and for making sure the guests are accommodated and the cats’ lives are enriched by what you guys do in the gift shop.

Have a great couple of days and I’ll see you on Wednesday.

Have a great day.

For the Cats,

Honey Wayton
Master Keeper/ Gift Shop Manager
