Afton’s Coordinator Report for July 7, 2017
We had three educational kids tours this morning that the project people did, so not a lot of projects got done today. They dug up saw grass from in front of the new gift shop and replanted them in the empty cage on tiger island. A lot of sticks and branches got picked up around the sanctuary.
A bunch of bloodsicles were made for the tours this weekend.

Keeper Corner
Thursday Andy Tiger chose to not co on vacation so his turn was passed onto “the Cubs,” Ares, Orion, and Artemis. Artemis refused to go but Ares and Orion are having a blast. You can watch them streaming live at BigCatRescue.org/bigcatrescue. Keepers are spending extra time chatting with and checking on Artemis so she won’t be lonely.

Keeper Afton: Checking in with Artemis while she has some alone time.
Keeper Afton: Cougar brothers Ares and Orion are in the vacation rotation!! They are the second and third cougars to ever go out into this enclosure. In this photo they are lounging in the shade in the roofed section.

Projects
Coolaroo Beds – Gale said there are only 14 more small cats that do not yet have one. I think there are three more that a viewer is sending. So when those arrive that leaves only 11 cats that do not yet have a new bed. The size needs to be large as the medium and small are too small for them to fully stretch out without part of them hanging off.
Keeper Desmond Fowles got a snapshot of Tonga in his NEW FAVORITE napping spot, ON his new Coolaroo hammock bed.
Gale said we are so well stocked on tea it will not be needed again for a long long time, THANK YOU EVERYONE!! She said she posted the volunteers favorite drinks and snacks on the Amazon wishlist and if you go by that wishlist she will remove things if they well stocked and only add the things the Keeper Cafe is low on or out of. She also said to tell ALL OF YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! When you all donate the goodies for the volunteers it means more of the funds here can go on the cats and on projects that enrich the lives of the cats.

How To Make a Cat Birthday Cake/Pizza!
What do cats want for their Birthday? … A new box would be nice, more toys are always appreciated, fresh catnip? … Nope, they get that all the time… with Marmalade we knew it had to be something food related since that’s his biggest passion, a birthday cake/pizza seemed like the only sensible solution! 🙂
