Keisha has decided on a new favorite drums and red meat while Cameron decided to favor boneless thighs and turkey drums.

We want to THANK ALL of YOU for the touching tributes you have been posting on TJ’s page. https://bigcatrescue.org/tj/

The New York City Council passed 1233-2016-A by a vote of 43 to 6.

The bill prohibits the display of wild or exotic animals for public entertainment or amusement. It will go into effect in 180 days to give circuses time to revamp their business model. HUGE shout out to everyone who visited, called and wrote the city council asking them to ban the cruel exploitation of animals in circuses in New York City.  One down, 34,999 cities to go!

Keeper Corner

Keeper Alyssa Weber:  I snapped this last week of TJ sleeping sweetly.

“Angel In Blue” Melissa Evens:  I got a great photo I wanted to share. This is Keeper Candy, one of Big Cat’s volunteers, testing out an invention brought in by another volunteer Audrey. When cleaning so many enclosures, you end up with a heavy bucket. The solution? A bucket on wheels! We never expected it to be such a hit with the cougar cubs though. While Candy now enjoys being followed by some of her favorite cats, the cats are looking for any opportunity to get their claws on the exciting new toy.

The Super Stars who get it done! Summer 2017 interns!!!

Some fun pictures of the interns while cleaning out Banshee bobcat’s enclosure! We cleaned up and added new sand his den! Hope he loves it because we had fun doing it! 🙂

Keeper Brittany Mira:  Two years of having my heart stolen and broken and and made full again. Despite how I feel today… I know tomorrow is always going to be worth it. Love getting anniversary and birthday cards from the cats.

In looking through PAST PIX for photos of TJ, ran across some pix thought you all might enjoy seeing a few glimpses into the list of a Big Cat Rescue keeper.

 Beatriz At Dinner

Beatriz at Dinner is a film for the eco-minded that has been opening in select cities during June.

How does a person committed to healing — to being principled, empathetic, and good — handle first contact with the devils who think nothing of destroying our world?” Find out with #BeatrizatDinner starring Salma Hayek as a holistic healer.

Has anyone seen it yet?  I have not seen it, yet, so am interested in your feedback, if you have.

Here is a note we received:

Hello,

Imagine having dinner with the man who killed Cecil!

This is the scenario filmmaker Migel Arteta created in the Sundance hit BEATRIZ AT DINNER (BEATRIZ).

Starring Salma Hayek, John Lithgow, Connie Britton, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Chloë Sevigny, David Warshofsky, and John Early.

Beatriz (Salma Hayek), an immigrant from a poor town in Mexico is a devoted animal-lover and environmentalist that has drawn on her innate kindness to build a career as a health practitioner in Los Angeles. Doug Strutt (John Lithgow) is a cutthroat, self-satisfied billionaire who openly brags about his big game hunting activities and eagerly shares the pictures to anyone who will see them. When these two opposites meet at a dinner party, their worlds collide and neither will ever be the same.

This film explores a variety of worldly, as well as spiritual, themes such as integrity, compassion, materialism, and greed. Beatriz has dedicated her life to a love of all animals and focuses on her healing practices as a way to help the world, yet finds herself immensely challenged when confronted with the antithesis of all she holds dear. As a spiritual seeker, she strives to express the best of herself, yet feels herself brought to the brink of madness by the realities of modern life.

Our team believes this will be of great interest to your readers and we look forward to your thoughts and would love to create awareness about this film to your community. We have advance screenings coming up that we could invite you to. We look forward to speaking with you about BEATRIZ at your earliest convenience!

Best,
Mary Murphy
