Big Cat Updates
Afton’s Coordinator report for Friday, June 23, 2017
Some odds and ends things were done around the sanctuary as far as picking up branches and leaves of trees that were trimmed. They re-seeded the cougar enclosures with the seed blend.
Projects for weekend:
Rake and weed eat in tiger row and tiger island.
Trim palmettos in and out of the old cubs cage, and there are still leaves that need to be picked up there.
Clear a bigger path on the backside of Kewlona and Dryden’s enclosure closest to the servals.
Chaos ate her chicken thigh and came back for the mush a few hours later. The thigh was not cut up, but she was able to eat it just fine.
New Cat, Cyrus, has been staying busy investigating, playing with, and marking everything in his Cat-A-Tat.

Big Cat Rescue Visor Cap $12: Whether you are travelling the country or just hanging out fishing this visor will keep your face from getting too much sun while showing your support for our cats. Khaki tan visor with Big Cat Rescue logo embroidered on the front in brown. Velcro strap makes this visor one size fits most.
Viewer Susann Mesna created a new Kitten Cheat Sheet so everyone can learn the kittens’ names.
Keeper Candy sent in this photo of Intern Taylor caring for one of the domestic fosters. The Angels In Blue, a.k.a. Interns foster these cats & kittens with so much love and attention that when they go to their new furever families they ready to fit right into family life.
Taylor had this to say: “We have to handle her in a gown and gloves because she might have ringworm ? once we gave her a sulfur bath and wrapped her in the towel and stayed like this for 35 minutes. She’s my little baby. If anyone wants to adopt her once she’s cleared of her ringworm test, her name is Bella and she is the BEST cat ever.”

Did You Know? Here at Big Cat Rescue, literally 100% of your donations are spent directly ON THE CATS!!! We are able to adhere to that strict policy because the other sanctuary expenses, administrative expenses, salaries etc come out of tour fees and other sources of income. We are extremely serious about donations being used JUST FOR THE CATS!
Because of adhering to that strict policy regarding donations, and all of the other ways Big Cat Rescue is transparent in their operations, we have earned Charity Navigator‘s highest 4-star rating for “sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency” EVERY YEAR since we were first evaluated by them in 2010.
Exciting: Per their rating letter “Only 7% of the charities we rate have received at least 4 consecutive 4-star evaluations and we have done it for 6 consecutive years.
Wild Bobcat Photos
Viewer May Saraiva shared some fun photos of bobcats in the wild. Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we do.
Note from May Saraiva: I also photographed and filmed a Florida Wolf, Otters, raccoons, a wide variety of birds, etc. No black bears yet…lol In that spot where the Bobcat was, I used to see rabbits very often, too. Maybe that’s what she was looking for. This has been a wonderful experience for me, and I hope wildlife continues to thrive here, and co-exist peacefully…
Thank you Chris for letting us use your cool collage.

Big Cat Model Donna G: This is my grandson at his Birthday party showing off his gorgeous new TJ Tiger beach blanket Birthday gift. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s so soft and fuzzy that he is going to use it for a blanket for a while instead of taking the wonderful ‘water tiger’ out to the pool. I bought myself one too, and I just love it. Note to Viewers: ALL precedes from the sale of TJ’s International Day Gear, like the beach towel above, is being donated to a worthy program helping save wild tigers and wild leopards from drowning in well. Learn more at: http://bigcatrescue.org/international-tiger-day/
Big Cat Model Amarylis is certain ready for a day of summer fun! I recently purchased the pink and gray baseball cap and I’m in love with it. Thank you so much for everything you guys do for the cats. God bless!
Big Cat Model Diana Blount loves her Mickey Cougar Word Art T-shirt and I can see why. It looks for soft and comfy. Oh my, I have GOT to get me one of those!
We thought this service might be of interest to cat lovers. The owner of Kitten Sittin is a former volunteer, who is now an AdvoCat, named Pat O’Shea
Here is an excerpt from their website’s home page.
We love cats as much as you do…
Truth be told, we relate to their feline ways. We cater to their unique personalities and listen to their views on the world.
We find that no two cats are alike… and that’s what makes them special. That’s why they deserve special care and attention when you are away from home. Taking care of your feline friends is what we do and we do it very well.
In today’s world we are often called upon to leave the home for periods of time. That means we need to leave our house and our cats in the care of others. It makes sense to choose a professional cat-sitting service that understands and caters specifically to cat clientele. Anything less would be unfair to your feline roommates. Their comfort directly relates to their happiness… and yours.
Maintaining your cat’s physical and mental health is a serious responsibility. One that Kitten Sittin’ happily takes. Our in-home services make your time away worry-free.
