International Tiger Day is only about a month away, July 29, 2017.
Please join us in saving wild tigers from drowning in open wells!
One specific area the Corbett Foundation is working on is the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Open farm wells, dug by villagers, in the buffer zone of the Tiger Reserve, are proving to be deathtraps for wild animals, with several cases reported of tigers and leopards drowning by accidentally falling into the open wells. The Corbett Foundation has initiated a project to install chain-link fencing around such open farm wells to prevent accidental drownings of tigers, leopards and other wild animals who fall into these deep, unmarked wells.
Endangered wild tigers and leopards in India already face enormous challenges to their survival…let’s help them remove one obstacle that we can control by fencing these open farms wells!
Big Cat Rescue has designed a unique line of International Tiger Day merchandise featuring our very own TJ tiger to raise much-needed funds to construct fences around open wells in farming villages in India. Currently about 2500 of these open farm wells exist, many in the core zone of the Tiger Reserve. It costs approximately $100 to construct a fence around one well in India. WITH YOUR HELP, we hope to donate $10,000, which will fence in 100 wells and save wild tigers and leopards!
Big Cat Rescue will match the profit from your purchases of our International Tiger Day merchandise – and any donations you make on that merchandise page – dollar for dollar up to $5000 and donate it to the Corbett Foundation’s in situ work to protect wild tigers, leopards and other animals in India from falling into open farm wells. The funds will be used to construct fences around the wells, keeping the big cats from falling into these very deep wells and drowning.

Keeper Afton: It has been awhile since I have posted a photo of Joseph my love. Happy Wednesday!
Keeper Afton: The other day, Amanda let me take photos of her without getting mad that I was in her personal space. So with that, we are going to have an Amanda day!!
Keeper Afton: Alright Amanda, it is time for your close up!
Keeper Afton: I have a couple nicknames for Amanda, like My Mandy Moo and The Disney Villain. I always tell her, “I’ll respect your space as long as you respect mine.” That is one reason her and I understand each other. There is less roaring that way.
Keeper Afton: All of these photos with Amanda’s ears back, but it looks like she is smiling a bit. Maybe she hears something behind her. LOL

Keeper Afton (June 26th): Checked in on Mickey. He seems to be acting himself. Dr. B was here earlier to see how he was doing. This morning he devoured his birthday meat cake.

Letter To Management
COMPLAINT FOR DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER
I, Nikita Lioness (a/k/a Her Royal Lioness or HRL), living at Big Cat Rescue, 12802 Easy Street, Tampa, Florida 33625, since November 30, 2001, have maintained a good reputation since that time.
It is my belief that Explore.org/BigCatRescue camera operator “Snick” has produced defamatory statements against me on aforesaid website. These comments have caused me injuries and damages from which I seek reparations.
On June 27, 2017, the Defendant published a statement claiming “she looks kind of wide here.” The Cat Burglar of Big Cat Rescue came to my defense immediately by pointing out the rudeness of that statement.
The Defendant was also taken to task regarding that statement on June 28, 2017, by the Secretary to the Cats – and again the Defendant posted “…the fact is, she’s wide, right?”
This publication of these false statements has taken a toll on my mental and physical health. I now suffer from severe insomnia and depression as a result of this incident. I therefore seek punitive and compensatory damages and whatever else the court sees just and fit to award.
However, I will drop the lawsuit upon daily delivery of chicken for the next two weeks.

Foster Kitten Program
I will be taking the following kittens back to the Humane Society tomorrow afternoon:
- Mars
- Pluto
- Doyle
- Sheba
- Cora
- Celeste
We do have other kittens that are over 2 lbs, but due to the Humane Society being full, they can only take the six biggest. Celeste is not the biggest, but they want to take a look at the bump on her nose. I will pick up the kittens in the Cabana tomorrow afternoon. No need to do anything special with them.
