With the new cats arrival the current cats were pretty distracted and many did not eat all their breakfast for the afternoon was spent taking lunch out to the cats who did not eat all their breakfast.

76 cats are here now and 1 genet.

In Case You Missed It

In case you missed it yesterday, the three new cats arrived.

Cyrus and Chaos, the six year old Caracals, along with Zucari, the 2 year old Serval, have arrived. Come along as they are released into their forever homes.

Wear their gear to show your love and support for them https://big-cat-rescue.myshopify.com/products/tote-cyrus-chaos-zurcari-rescue 100% of the profits goes to caring for the cats!

Photos of New Cats

After the cats have time to settle in and relax we will take new photos.

NOTE:  Love seeing that new grass sprouting up.  The keepers’ and interns’ hard work of hauling in, carrying, and spreading top soil, sewing grass seed, and diligently keeping it watered if finally paying off.

The NEW CATS have arrived!! Gale is gathering up the carriers and checking on the new cats.

The wild ones have arrived. These are foster kittens at Big Cat Rescue who will be returning to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay at 2 lbs to be fixed and adopted into their fur-ever homes. Our volunteers and staff don’t touch the lions, tigers and other big cats here, so they socialize kittens to help them get a second chance at a good life. http://explore.org/live-cams/player/big-cat-rescue-kitten-cabana

Did you see Afton’s new video?

 Foster Kitten Program

HEADS UP –> Note from Keeper Karma:  Tomorrow at about 11:00 AM EST, Afton and I are going to be going to the Humane Society to pick up kitten #500!  She will be filming for our media sites, I’ll be doing Facebook Live so drop by and join the fun!

Keeper Karma:  “Why do you do this?” “HOW do you do this?” “Is it really worth it?” These are the most common questions I am asked. Fostering does not care about days off, a full nights sleep or anything you have planned. The losses are heartbreaking, the needs of the kittens are nonstop. As I head out on what is normally a day off to pick up kitten #485 (the amount of domestic cats and kittens Big Cat Rescue has fostered), I say, Yes! It is absolutely worth it, and this is why……

This was the last photo of Bashful and Dawn together at BCR’s Kitten Cabana.

Note from Bashful & Dawn’s new furever mom on May 28th: I want to introduce “Bashful” (gray – female) who joined my family 2-weeks ago and “Dawn” (cream/gray – female) who arrived 1-week ago. They are wonderful kittens who will be loved & cherished by us. My adult cat Betsy is 18-years old, so I’m hoping for long, healthy lives for Bashful and Dawn too.

I wish to thank all of my fellow Rescuers at BCR. The Domestic Kitten Program is a resounding success. Over 300 tiny lives have been saved through our partnership with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Kittens from HSTB are brought to Big Cat Rescue to be fostered and socialized. As a BCR Volunteer, one of the highlights of my day is to go to the Kitten Cabana and play with the current residents. This is how I first met Bashful. She arrived at BCR at 2-days old and considered a “bottle baby.” Once she was weaned, vaccinated and passed health tests, Bashful graduated to the Kitten Cabana. I just knew she would be MY forever Cat.

Bashful’s best friend at BCR was Dawn. They were quite bonded always seeking each other out to play and sleep together. The Foster Kittens at BCR don’t return to the Humane Society until they reach 2-pounds. Dawn was a week behind, but as soon as she became available, I was there to claim her. Knowing that these two were bonded, the Humane Society made it possible for me to adopt Dawn also.

When Dawn arrived at my house, Bashful met us at the front door. These two were SO HAPPY to see each other. Bashful raised her paws and gave Dawn a big bear hug. It was so sweet! Bashful proceeded to give Dawn a “tour” of their new home. They inspected the food & water bowls, the litter boxes, the toy basket, etc.

Visitors who have met the new kittens all comment on how socialized they are. They LOVE people, even strangers. We have the BCR Staff, Interns and Volunteers to thank for this. I want to give a special “shout out” to Karma Lynn Hurworth and Level 5 Intern Jo Atkin.

Bashful adjusting nicely to her new home. LOVE that face!

Life is better with a cuddle buddy.

Viewer Pix

Viewer Silver made some birthday photos of the cats.  I missed getting them posted because my computer downloaded from our shared folder too slowly and I missed them.  I absolutely LOVE the way she does these.  I will try really hard not to miss her PAWSOME creations again.
