Lion cubs born in Colorado zoo

The births of three African Lion cubs at the Pueblo Zoo have created a small frenzy; they are the first lion cubs in Pueblo in 50 years.

The six-week-old brother and sister cubs are 10 lbs. Each now, four times the size they were when they were born. Their mother Ulana nursed them at first, but she lost interest in her cubs, so zoo keepers care for them 24 hours a day.

There was even more excitement at the zoo when a third lion cub was born. Her mother also rejected her, so the three babies are under continual zoo staff care.

Unfortunately, the zoo will not be able to afford to feed them when they grow to 3-400 lb. Beasts. They will likely be donated to other zoos in about a year. The Pueblo Zoo will hold a naming contest for the cubs, in January.
