SALEM, Ohio (AP) — Police in a northeast Ohio community are warning residents about reports that a possible lioness has been spotted four times over the past week.
Media outlets report Perry Township Police Chief Mike Emigh issued a warning Tuesday after conferring with the state Department of Natural Resources.
Emigh says the most recent sighting Monday came from a Columbiana County sheriff’s office dispatcher. Other reports came Saturday and last Wednesday.
The chief says a local farm with exotic animals does not house any lions and that a nearby animal sanctuary is not missing any animals. There have been no reports of farm animals or pets being eaten or killed.
Emigh says the sanctuary and a local humane officer say they will help tranquilize the animal if found.
