Local rescue helps with Texas tiger death

Big Cat Rescue in Tampa is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for killing a young female Bengal tiger in Dallas. The tiger, found next to a highway on Christmas Day, had been declawed and was wearing a makeshift collar and leash. Investigators believe the tiger, which had been shot five times, may have become too much for its owner to handle. “It hits home so much for us because Florida and Texas have the most pet tigers in private ownership,” said Scott Lope, operations manager at Big Cat, which has been working with Texas authorities. Tipsters can call (813) 920-4130.
