Big Cat Updates
Several of you asked how much Andy weighed at his medical visit yesterday. Andy weighs 368 pounds. So, yes Seth is bigger than Andy.
Coordinator’s Report 5/22/2017
The empty cage in front of Zzimba, that used to house Ginger, was cleaned up, top soil and grass seed added.
The empty cage behind Diablo and Ginger, was cleaned up, top soil and grass seed added.
Work was started on Andy’s enclosure, the roof cleaned and a general clean up, there are still some piles that need picking up in the two bubbles closest to Ppriya, also raking around the outside. The two on the tour path were completed.
Andi Bobcat finished her meds today, she was the perfect hospital occupant as always!
The cats were a little fussy eating this morning as it was so hot but by the end of the day had been fed.
Recap of Andy’s visit with the vets yesterday. He was microchipped, neutered, had his eyes checked and had a couple bad teeth removed.
Big Cat Rescue photo collage mouse pad features wild cats including Ginger the serval, Cameron the lion, Orion the cougar, Max the bobcat, TJ the tiger, and Sundari the leopard and the BCR logo.

Yesterday, I was abducted by aliens. That’s right – ALIENS – right here on Easy Street! Some keepers showed up at my home and were offering me a ride in a nice, big transport wagon. They said they were taking me somewhere “nice” and that I shouldn’t be afraid. Optimist that I am, I thought they were taking me to a movie or to some entertainment complex. I was looking forward to having a good time, so I jumped right in. They were singing my praises all the way and I was quite happy. Little did I know, they were simply minions doing the aliens’ bidding.
I was taken to a big building and the transport wagon was parked outside. I thought we were waiting for the first movie to end before we went in. Much to my surprise, instead I was stung by something while in the transport wagon which made me very drowsy and I passed out. When I woke up, I discovered that I had been violated — and I am minus my boy bits and some teeth! I now sing in a soprano voice, and speak with a lisp.
I also had something put in my eyes, and something was stuck under my skin. To add insult to injury, when I was taken back to my home I was featured on a live broadcast while I was still woozy from all that had been done to me. Some snarky comments were made – including one from the Secretary to the Cats about me being hungover from being at 610 Brewery. While I can’t do anything to the rest of the internet stalkers, the Secretary has been reported to The King and will be severely admonished for the part she played in my humiliation.
I thought I was safe living in a gated community, but obviously I was wrong. Therefore, I am requesting armed guards be placed at the entrances to all our homes so that this does not happen to anyone else.

Can’t decide which exotic cat species is your favorite?
Keeper Afton: Checking in on Gabrielle to see if she is enjoying her misting fan.
Keeper Brittany Mira from May 20th: Seeing this pop up in my memories made me laugh. Looking forward to some BCR time.
Viewer Donna Morefield: Hi, Just thought I’d pass along a few pics of Patsy in the cabana this morning, looking really cute. Thought you might want to use one for the updates. Have a great day!
Viewer Matthew Barberio: I used a nice picture of Andy to make nice little thing for the updates. I added effects that make it look like it was painted on concrete and I also added his paw painting from today. I hope you like it!
As many times as we answer this question it still seems to be asked almost daily.
People Often Ask: What are your enclosures like? Or they comment on our posts about small cages etc.
Answer: Our enclosure are not small, they are multiple sections connected by doors or tunnels. They are cleaned every day. the fence is not rusty, it is painted with Rustoleum to prevent rusting. That is a rust colored paint. Every cat has multiple sections with a minimum or two sections, more depending on the species, age, health, and needs of the cat. Cats who share space are given double sections. Every section has a den and water bowl. Example: Joseph has 5 sections, each section is about 1800 sq ft. The Texas trio usually have at least 6 sections. More active cats have more sections. Smaller cat sections are 1200 sq sft per section and each cat has a minimum of two sections, more if they are active or share space.
This is an easy to remember link that will show you much more about our enclosures. BigCatRescue.org/cages/ The link is simply our website BigCatRescue.org plus the word cages so just add add /cages/.
Note to Viewers: When you see newcomers asking about our cages or commenting the cage looks small because in videos it is hard to see just really how big the cages are, you can give them this link about our cages. Again, the link is our website plus the word cages. BigCatRescue.org/cages/
That page will give people info plus show them this video:
