Big Cat Updates
We will be sedating Mac and Tiger Lilly for exams on Monday.
Mac will be first at 9 AM. Tiger Lilly will be after, sometime between 11-12.
We will be LIVE at this link Monday: http://explore.org/live-cams/player/big-cat-rescue-windsong-memorial-cat-hospital
Mac http://bigcatrescue.org/mac/ He is 21 years old, over weight and may need dental work.
Tiger Lilly http://bigcatrescue.org/tiger-lilly/ She is 22 years old and needs to have mats shaved off because she’s too arthritic to groom herself any more.
Multiply their ages by 6 and you get roughly the human equivalent in ages for these old cats.
Sabre is home from FunCation
Cheetaro is on FunCation.
Banshee is locked out of one of his enclosure sections while modifications are being made to it.
Coordinator Report for Saturday 5/27/2017
Today was a busy day and all the great volunteers and interns that were here today made it a successful one.
We removed Andi’s cone today. She was very happy about that.
Picky cats were awesome today.
- Cameron liked his feathered chicken and turkey drums, later in the day had some boned in chicken thighs.
- Hoover was good with thighs and red.
- Joseph did great with red and turkey drums, but refused all mush and chicken drums.
- TJ was a champ with the pork today!
TJ Tiger Sets Purr-Sonal Best Record for Eating. Watch that and a whole lot more as Angie and Momma Becky hand out evening meds and evening meals to the picky eaters at Big Cat Rescue.
Cats included tonight are: Bobcats (Angie, Nabisco, Mrs Claws, Smalls) Leopards (Sabre, Jade, Armani) Tigers (Keisha, TJ) Cougars (Reise, Aspen Echo, Mac, Mickey) and Lion (Nikita)
Keeper Desmond Fowles: Cheetaro on FunCation
He is really enjoying rubbing on a palmetto stump.
Lots of new kittens in the Kitten Cabana today. Please spay and neuter your pets. These were the lucky ones, but millions die in shelters each year because people are irresponsible with their pets. These kittens are fostered by Big Cat Rescue and then go back to the no kill Humane Society of Tampa Bay shelter to be fixed and adopted when they are old enough.

Even more new kittens!
People Often Ask: Are you going to Cat Con Worldwide in August?
Answer: We’ve never been but think it might be a good way to connect with other cat lovers.
Question To Viewers: Tell us what your experience has been in the comments.
Available in many different colors.
TODAY’S Big Cat Challenge is to follow these steps EXACTLY to speak out for the Ringling Circus Cats.
We created a page called TigerShows.com to explain the issue and tell people where they needed to go comment to help stop the cats from being sent to a circus in Germany. However, there seemed to be some confusion on where to comment. People were commenting on our page instead of going to the right link and putting their comment where the people making the decision about the cats’ transfer could see it.
If YOU want to help the Ringling Circus Cats PLEASE follow these steps exactly:
2) You must start your comment with these exact words: I am commenting on the application called FELD ENTERTAINMENT, INC., PALMETTO, FL; PRT-22685C
3) Add your own note
4) Optional – add your name
5) Click the Continue button and that takes you to the next screen
6) Put a check mark on the box that says “I read and understand the statement above.”
7) Click the button Submit Comment
PLEASE NOTE: While we like seeing your comments here on this page, commenting here will not help those cats. To help the Ringling Circus cats you MUST follow those steps so that your comment is seen by the people making the decision about the cats.
Background Information on This Issue
The owner of Ringling circus is petitioning the USDA to allow 8 of their circus tigers to be exported to Germany where they will reportedly be forced to perform in another circus! It’s extremely disappointing that Ringling will not retire these tigers to a GFAS-accredited sanctuary such as Big Cat Rescue; instead they hope to continue to exploit these poor tigers!
Ringling’s application states they want to export the captive-born tigers “to enhance the survival of the species.” This is ridiculous in that Ringling’s captive tigers have ZERO conservation value and their offspring cannot be released into the wild.
Read The Dodo’s article here: https://www.thedodo.com/in-the-wild/ringling-tigers-german-circus
Please send others to take action by telling them to go to: TigerShows.com
Did You Know: Captive born tigers’ bloodlines cannot be traced back to the wild? After decades of uncontrolled inbreeding and crossbreeding in the exotic pet trade captive tigers’ DNA would actually weaken the species in the wild.
Note To Viewers: UH OH, Seth Tiger has something to say so he has called in Lori, Secretary to the cats.

Congratulations on finishing the “catwalk” across Tiger Lake. I really like the new, improved view. Now I can see and wave (with my tail, of course) to my friends on the other side, and watch those silly birds in the pond. We’ll talk about THEM later.
However, in constructing the catwalk you seem to have forgotten something that was requested by a former resident of Tiger Lake. I seem to recall Hoover asking for a dock to be built out into the lake so that he could lay there and nap, or watch the fish swim by and avoid the snakes and turtles. I agree – I think that’s a grand idea!
I thought maybe you were saving that for last, but I notice that all the construction material has been cleaned up and removed. When Carole and Gale were wading in Tiger Lake a few weeks ago, I am certain that they measured where the dock should be built, and I’ve attached pictures as proof. (And might I add, they looked lovely in those waders – hee hee chuff chuff!) So I anticipate that the dock will be built soon.
And speaking of home improvements, something else that I would like to see added is a hammock between the trees where I can nap on the shoreline. Right now I have to rest my feets and head against the trees – it would be much nicer to have a hammock there where I can nap and swing.
Please make sure it’s not one of those net kinds that my feets will fall though – I need nice, sturdy cloth that will hold myself and future Tiger Lake vacationers.
Well, this letter seems to be getting a little long, so we’ll talk about those silly birds some other time …
Thanks for your attention to my requests.
