Big Cat Updates

On Sat. May 6 Seth Tiger will leave Tiger Lake for a dental and won’t be brought back to Tiger Lake until the Cat Walk project is done, which is anticipated to be May 18. Tiger Lake cam will go on highlights from May 6 – May 18. Seth will be moved to one of our other tiger enclosures on the property after his dental.

Bobcat Rehab camera installation is supposed to start May 8. I don’t know how long explore’s new company will take, but their plan is to take the Vacation Rotation camera to Bobcat Rehab and install a different cam in VR, at a lower point on the pole so we have less trees in the way of the view and we can clean from a ladder.

Facebook Live Video Replays

This was from April 23, but I don’t think we ever posted a YouTube link:

Our enrichment team has been very busy over the past 6 months making the holidays fun for the big cats. So we threw a pizza party for the big cats and for our hard working enrichment team! BigCatTV.com

We are sad to report that one of our beloved Camera Operators has passed away.  If you ever watched our cats in the Windsong Memorial Hospital, then you were the beneficiary of Doug’s love for the cats, as he kept the cameras steady on the action.  He loved operating the live webcams and loved the animals he brought to the online viewing world even more.  He was particularly fond of the bobcats.  When his fellow Camera Operators asked to set up a memorial fund for him to pay for a Warrior Level of Sponsorship we were touched by their love of their fellow operator.  We have set up a donation page at BigCatRescue.org/doug to raise the funds for this sign to be erected at Big Cat Rescue in his memory.

 Foster Kitten Program

Kitten Cabana kittens go back to the Humane Society today. We have another litter that should be ready for the Kitten Cabana very soon.

Karma will be taking following kittens are ready to go back to the Humane Society to find their furever homes.

  • Janna
  • Jasper
  • Josie
  • Duchess

Karma will be bringing back with her more precious ones that need fostering.

Our intern housing (dorms) all have names.  Our foster kittens live with the interns.  After a heard day of work for the big cats the interns go back to their dorms and and enjoy some one on one with the kittens they are fostering.

  • Intern house, Modglin, will be receiving some five week old kitten to foster.
  • Intern house, Himalayan, will be receiving a momma cat and her three week old kitten.

 People Often Ask

People Often Ask if the money from fundraisers done on the Facebook Fundraisers are legitimate and if the money is actually given to the sanctuary.

The Answer Is:  Yes, absolutely.  Here is a screenshot of a recent receipt of a payment from Facebook to the sanctuary.  Several Facebook Viewers have ran or are running purr-sonal fundraisers for the cats using Facebook’s fundraiser feature.  Here is proof that Facebook sends the funds directly to Big Cat Rescue.

The cats just received a gift of $1,391.75 from our AMAZING Facebook Viewers!!!

THANK YOU!! Roars!! Chuffs!!

People Often Ask:  How they can do a Facebook Fundraiser.

Go to this link:  https://www.facebook.com/pg/bigcatrescue/fundraisers/?ref=page_internal

Look below our cover photo, on the right side there are two buttons.  One says “Donate” and one says “+ Raise Money.”

Clicking the “+ Raise Money” button pops up a window to set up your fundraiser.  Facebook will handle everything after that.
