Big Cat Updates
Big Cats on the Move
Zeus Tiger – Needs to be moved to cage closest to Kali.
Hoover Tiger – Will be going between Zeus and Jasmine so he has a pool.
Sundari Leopard- Went home.
Sabre Leopard – Going into FunCation.
TX Tigers (Amanda, Andre & Arthur) – After feeding need to be shifted away from tunnel to Vacation Rotation enclosure.
Coordinator Kathryn’s Report:
Hot day but got a lot done.
Sundari’s entire cage was raked (thanks to Devin, Jared, Des and Brittany, the interns all helped for a bit but Jared and Brittany stayed late and busted their butts!!)
The picky cats did well today.
Food prep sheets were updated.
1 additional bag of chicken thighs got added to the pull list so we always have a bag of thighs for pm diets.( Hoover especially wants chicken!)
Please remind the interns when prepping food prep that we need food for PM diets as well. If we run out please pull so the next day doesn’t run short as well.
On Saturday we plan to do dentals on 4 tigers. You can watch LIVE at BigCatRescue.org/vet
Moving Hoover Tiger: Hoover will move to an enclosure between Zeus and Jasmine so he will have access to a pool.
Thank you SO much for helping us raise nearly $120,000.00 yesterday for Give Day and for all you do with your shopping at BigCatRescue.biz, CatRescue.biz, your visits and your purchases at Smile.Amazon.com that benefit Big Cat Rescue. HUGE shout out to everyone who is staying on their members of Congress to co sponsor the Big Cat Public Safety Act over at BigCatAct.com and those of you who like, share and comment in order to help us reach more people.
Sabre Leopard goes on FunCation: It is a long walk for Sabre so it will take a while because keepers do not like to rush him.
The 2016 Lost Files from Big Cat Rescue include moving tigers, some early footage of the SD rescued cats and prepping for their arrival and that of the 5 tigers from CO. Dryden Bobcat, Kewlona Bobcat, Kali Tiger, Sundari Leopard, Ares Cougar, Orion Cougar and others.
Today’s Big Cat Updates featured photo is Desiree Serval
Desiree’s date of birth is unknown. She was rescued and came to Big Cat Rescue on 10/11/2009. She was limping along in the Arizona desert until she collapsed alongside a road. She had almost completely given up the will to live. Read her full story at http://bigcatrescue.org/desiree/
Note to Viewers: Remember the 1,000 red cups you all generously sent in for the cats? Here is what they are being used for.
Yesterday, I made about 70 blood sicles in 3 sizes for the cats! Should make for a great weekend of treats at the sanctuary. ~Keeper Brittany Mira
Giving the cats sicles helps to keep them hydrated as well as giving them something fun to do, alleviating boredom for a while. The old cats who are dealing with age related kidney disease, get sicles every day. They love them and the extra hydration is very good for them.
Q: When are you going to do the Fur Ball again?
A: No time soon. Here’s why. The Fur Ball was an award winning gala that had as many as 800 attendees but it took many, many months (Feb. – Oct.) each year to plan and prepare and in the end would net 60,000.00 – 110,000.00 . That is a lot of money, but Give Day Tampa Bay yesterday netted us nearly $120,000.00 and took us only a couple of days worth of effort. We love a great party as much as anyone, but hope you can understand that we need to focus our efforts on the things that make the biggest difference for the cats. Lakota Bobcat (below) agrees.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who so generously donated to support our cats during Give Day Tampa Bay! We are thrilled to announce that the total including online donations, mailed checks, matching funds and prizes raised almost $120,000! We practically doubled our goal of $61,000 to purchase 4 new transport cages and purchase/renovate a new hospital recovery building! You guys are the BEST and we are honored to have all of you as part of our Big Cat Rescue family.
We will be moving cats all day.

“Let’s Be Careful Out There!” (Hillstreet Blues) Seriously though:
Google warns of phishing email spreading in Docs
Google is warning users not to click on a phishing email disguised as a contact attempting to share a file from Google Docs.
The email appears to come from a contact in users’ email accounts, inviting them to share a document. The sophisticated email looks very similar to one sent by Google, but appears to come from an individual Gmail account, according to users on Twitter who shared information on the scam.
According to a tweet from Google’s Gmail account, the company is investigating and encouraging users not to click on the link.
When users click on the file, the fake Google Docs will seek permission to access your account. Users who click on the link and follow through with the process should go to Google’s account permissions to deny access.
Phishing is a common tactic used to gain access to a user’s login credentials. In most cases, users are asked to click on a link, then provide account details to access the information provided. However, the process provides the user’s credentials to the attacker, allowing them access to email accounts, social networks like Facebook or other platforms.
Google Docs reports it has addressed the issue. If you think you were affected, be sure to check and update your security settings.
From Susann Mesna: Rumor has it the Texas Tigers are going on vacation. Here is a video i made some time back of the Texas Tigers on vacation.
