LAS VEGAS (AP) – A hotel official says an animal trainer received stitches for a bite on the leg after an attack by a lion in an animal habitat display on the Las Vegas Strip.
MGM Resorts International spokeswoman Yvette Monet said Thursday the trainer was bitten Wednesday afternoon when he stepped too close to 1 of 3 male lions at the MGM Grand hotel.
Monet says the man was treated at a Las Vegas hospital and released and U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors were notified.
Captive lions in the glass enclosure are handled by a trainer under contract with the resort.
Monet says the injured trainer isn’t an MGM Resorts employee. His name wasn’t made public.
