HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Three African servals have gone on display at the Hattiesburg Zoo this week.
The three – 7-year-old siblings – were acquired from Florida about a month ago. The servals went on display at the zoo Monday.
Zoo curator John Wright tells the Hattiesburg American that Alexander, Cleopatra and Caesar – as they are named – are being exhibited in the African section with the zoo’s existing serval, Ricky.
Servals are medium-sized cats with long legs for jumping and small heads with large eyes and ears. The cats have yellow-brown coats adorned with black spots and stripes.
Wright says the agile cats can jump up to 10 feet in the air.
