Coordinator Report – Fred Pagan

Busy day in preparation for the Walkabout tomorrow!

Feeding was done by Abbey Rivett, Stefanie Kraus, Bethany Smith, Susan Reed, Cassidy Helber, Stephanie Chaiser, and Sharon Henry. Sharon and Sue continue to be specialty tour pros as Sue took care of the feeding tour and Sharon led the keeper tour.

The feeders later became the cleaners, joined by Taylor Tyree and MaryLou Geis. As cleaning happened, Flint the bobcat was moved to the enclosure closest to Smalls and he loves it!

As Steph and Abbey did food prep, a variety of chores to get ready for walkabout were completed. The interns and Stefanie Kraus washed golf carts, Bethany Smith and Mark Mira continued cleaning the tour path, and Michael Heap repaired barricades. Sue took care of all the supplements!

Afton Tasler and I moved tables and chairs to the parking lot, arranged benches for the visitors’ comfort, and took out some old enrichment. We even said hi to some BCR fans who were here early!

That’s it from me, tomorrow is the big day!

Walkabout Friday Night Pre-Party

Casper Bobcat Sees Dr. Justin

Casper Bobcat goes to Humane Society of Tampa Bay to see Dr. Justin Boorstein

Casper Bobcat goes to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to see Dr. Justin Boorstein. No broken bones, so we are really stumped as to how he came to be in such an emaciated condition. Based on his teeth, he’s only a year or two old and no wounds. We sent blood out for more testing and will keep you posted. Keep up with his progress at BigCatRescue.org/Casper-Bobcat

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Report

MALACHITE, ASH and CINDER – Ash and Cinder were nowhere to be seen during the afternoon, they must have been napping in a cool spot somewhere. In the late afternoon, they both showed up in the front section and laid down in the corner by the water bowl, then they played and batted at each other, lol.

After a bit, Ash made his way to the back section and got on the tall platform in the back section where he sat for a short time and looked around. Cinder stayed up in the front section and wandered around checking things out and watched for the squirrel, lol.

Then Ash jumped down and made his way to the front section to find Cinder. They wandered around some more and then Ash laid by the water bowl for a couple of minutes, while Cinder paced the fence, then he got up and went into the middle section. Cinder roamed around a bit more and then followed Ash into the middle section. Ash went into the back section and got up on top of the tall platform to lounge and then settle down for a nap.

Cinder was in the middle section for a while, then after it got dark she went to the back and joined Ash on the tall platform to cuddle up for a nap. Later they woke up and lounged for a bit, looking around, then they both got down and made their way to the front section, where they played on the Coolaroo and roamed around for a while. Then they went into the left side and cuddled up together on their spot on the grass by the pipe and took a long nap. Very adorable!

Quite a while later, they woke up and checked things out upfront, before disappearing into the middle section. I didn’t see them for a while, but later Cinder came back up to the front to pace the fence a bit. After a little while, Ash came back up front too and they wandered around and watched things out there. As I write this, they are in the front section, sitting in the corner by the water bowl and looking straight up watching a squirrel in the tree, lol. So cute! they are so precious!!! 🙂

I saw sweet Malachite in his front section for a brief moment! He was walking through and jumped up on the feeding station crate, then back down and was gone, lol. He’s precious!!! 🙂

I wish everyone a wonderful Friday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
