Cameron and Zabu have been reunited and have been given full access to all of their yards.  Needless to say, Cameron is a pretty happy about having Zabu back.  Zabu is happy about having her yards back.

On Wednesday Arizonans for Wildlife launched a ballot initiative campaign to protect mountain lions, bobcats, and other wild cats in Arizona. This is a broad coalition of local and national partners and Big Cat Rescue is honored to endorse this campaign!

Arizonans for Wildlife is working to protect the state’s wild cats from extreme cruelty by prohibiting the trophy hunting and trapping of mountain lions, bobcats, ocelots, jaguars, and lynx. If the ballot initiative is successful, it will allow the public to vote and decide if trophy hunting wild cats should be prohibited on the November 2018 ballot. The measure includes reasonable exemptions for killing a wild cat if an individual’s personal safety is threatened and for the removal of wild cats if livestock or property is targeted.

Big Cat Rescue is calling on our supporters in Arizona to join this historic campaign by signing up to volunteer with Arizonans for Wildlife as they gain the momentum needed to make it on the ballot in 2018! You can sign up to volunteer at https://azforwildlife.com/volunteer

Big cat friend, Diane Buckler got this great snapshot of Keeper Afton and Joseph from Carole’s behind the scenes walkabout.

Big cat friend, Matthew B.: This is the sunset at Big Cat Rescue last night. I took this as a screenshot during Carole’s live feed. Too beautiful not to use as my cover photo

Big cat friend, Bill Staples: So I had the pleasure of going on a tour today. It was a lot of fun, and I think I’ve got a new favorite cat due to her constant showing off…Priya simply did not let anyone walk by without first showing off. At one point our group had turned around and was passing by her again while another group was coming towards us. She had no idea what to do, there were so many people and she was very excited. She kept walking back and fourth between the groups.
At one point we turned a corner and the other group kept going straight. So she walked the entire length of her enclosure to get attention from both groups. She is a serious show off and attention grabber.
Also, something I always suspected was confirmed to me. The kittens in the cabana are kept there for the safety of the big cats, not the safety of the kittens.

 Letters from Viewers

From big cat friend, Christine,

Last year I was quite sick with lung issues. I powered through the best way I could, but come November, I ended up having to take a break from work for stress. Somehow BCR was coming through my facebook feed, probably because I LOVE cats, big and small. At any rate, while I was off work during November I started getting notified of Carole’s live walkabouts. Her voice and the big cat’s calmed me so much I got addicted. Now, I look for her everyday. When she can’t do a walkabout I’m disappointed but I understand. I read the updates every day and watch every video I haven’t watched yet.

And I tell everyone who will listen about how wrong it is to keep them in captivity. I educated my youngest son a couple of months ago because he thought he wanted a savannah cat. I filled him in on what would probably happen.

I am just another follower who wants to thank Carole and BCR for everything they do.

I live up in Canada, and I don’t even own a passport. I’d consider getting one to visit Tampa though.

Much Love, Christine

Carole’s Response:

That was so kind of you to write Christine. I miss you guys too, when I can’t do a walkabout.

Last night I got word that someone I’ve trusted for 30 years had folded her business, where I have currently 152,000.00 out in loans to her. I spent the evening trying to track her down. I finally got her son to text me back and he says she will talk to me tomorrow when she gets in town, so maybe all is not lost.

NOTE from LaWanna: Carole does not miss doing those behind the scenes walkabouts unless she is tied up on something she cannot break away from. Most of the time it happens when she is deep into working on some kind of big cat issue. She LOVES the time she spends chatting with all of you.  The time she spends chatting back and forth with all of you truly is her soft spot to land every day.  You all keep us encouraged and moving forward.
