Big Cat Updates
Alexa Flash New Briefing
Wow, what a busy and productive day. We had lots of volunteers, interns, and a workgroup. Lacy and Rebecca were great project leaders and the area behind Priya’s cage looks amazing!! Lacy and our interns finished food prep for the cats tomorrow. The Holly’s and our strong interns and volunteers gave Keisha a new platform. Throughout the day we spruced the place up for Walkabout. Interns got sign-offs since they will be leaving soon. Becky made sure all the cats got snacks in the evening. The weather was great but we are all ready for a good nights sleep.
On October 2nd, Reise Cougar was seen by the Big Cat Rescue Vet, Dr. Justin, in the Windsong Memorial Hospital. Reise is now 23 years old and has difficulty grooming due to advanced arthritis. She was also badly declawed as a cub so needs to be routinely examined.
Reise, is German for Journey, and it certainly is appropriate for a cougar who was born into the pet trade in 1995 in Texas, was shipped to New York and then traveled to a rescue center in South Florida before taking the last road trip, at the age of 18, to her forever home at Big Cat Rescue in Tampa.
This looks AMAZING if you wear Oculus Go, HTC Vive, Rift, Cardboard or any other sort of HMD. Get our inexpensive headset and support the cats at the same time at BigCatRescue.org/VR
You can donate to the cats at NO COST TO YOU when you select BCR as your charity on Amazon Smile and shop Smile.Amazon.com instead of Amazon.com. It is exactly the same as regular Amazon EXCEPT when you use the Smile URL Amazon donates .5% of your purchase to BCR. It’s added up to over $89,000 for the cats!
Please visit BigCatRescue.org/amazon-smile for how to sign up and let me know you did so I can thank you. 🙂
