Coordinator Report

Erin Carden – We all got soaked in surprise rain today! Julia Kiser got a cleaning sign-off thanks to Bethany Smith and BethAnn Bluder got Megan Myers a sign off in the rain as well! Bridget Sardone joined us today, and helped out with morning supplements, chores and Megan and me with food prep! While we were handling that, Michael Heap repaired barricade wires, and new intern Melody Moore helped Karma in the gift shop. Mouser and Shiloh saw the vet today, they are both healthy boys, and went back outside! Thanks to Megan for helping out with afternoon chores, and thank you, everyone, for sticking it out in the downpours!

Karma Hurworth – We had a wet and sloppy Monday, but we got through it with the help of a couple of amazing Master Partners. Dennis Mitchell braved the deluge for both a private tour and the PM tour. Pam Rodriguez also dodged the rain to guide a private. She was willing to stay for a PM tour, but the guests aren’t quite as brave as our volunteers, so we had a number of cancellations, making only one tour.

Melody Moore helped out in the gift shop this morning answering the phone and greeting customers allowing me to get shipping done. The holiday ordering is almost upon us! She also trained new volunteer Jeanne in backing up. Kaitlin Wilson got her .me class today so she can now sign herself up to volunteer. She also helped out in the gift shop this afternoon. Dylan Lavigne came in at the end of the day and helped Melody clean up.

Thank you, everyone! I couldn’t have done it without you!

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Report

MALACHITE, ASH and CINDER – In the afternoon, Ash and Cinder were in the front section just hanging out and watching things. They wandered around, walked on the logs and watched for the squirrel. Then Ash got up on the swinging shelf and Cinder sat below on the grass and watched things out there, then she wandered around a bit before getting up on the swinging shelf with Ash. Ash lounged and Cinder sat there by him still watching things.

After a bit, Ash jumped down and Cinder sat there watching up in the tree and looking out towards Malachite’s enclosure, then she jumped down and they both made their way to the back section to play and wander around. Then they went over by the pipe and watched for something to come out. They looked in the openings and pawed inside them, then sat and watched them, then they got playful and played a bit with the pipe. So cute!

Then they climbed one of the bushes back there and played in the longer grass, leaping and running around. As it got dark they were still wandering around back there for a bit, then Ash got up on the tall platform to bathe and then take a nice nap. Cinder must have napped in their secret napping spot because she wasn’t anywhere in view.

Ash woke up once and sat up watching over towards Malachite’s enclosure, then he curled back up to nap some more. Later Cinder jumped up on top of the tall platform and she and Ash playfully batted at each other and they both jumped down.

After a bit, they came to the front section and Ash found part of the paper enrichment and played with it by the logs, then Cinder came and they wrestled and played together for a while on the grass by the logs, then they moved to the Coolaroo. They are so cute!

Eventually, they wore themselves out and went into the front left side to their spot on the grass by the pipe and curled up together to take another nap. Later they woke up and were full of energy and they played up a storm. They went right to the Coolaroo and wrestled for a while and then they wandered around in the middle section for a bit.

After a while they came back into the front section and wrestled some more on the Coolaroo, then they zoomed all over chasing each other, jumping on and off the swinging shelf along the way. Too cute! After a while, they zoomed into the middle section and stayed back there for a bit.

A little later, they came back in the front section to wander around and pace the fence. As I write this, they are still roaming around the front and middle sections just checking things out and playing a little in between. They are just too cute!!! 🙂

***I didn’t see Malachite at all overnight. He must have been in his very back section a lot. He’s such a cutie pie!!! 🙂

I wish everyone a fantastic Monday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
