Aleesa Salcido – Pretty toasty day today. Elissa Pally came in early today and helped us restock some magnets today. She took her tour guide class today! Woohoo! We were able to get two tours out today. I met two of our new volunteers Beccy and Jeanne! They did a great job on their first and second tour. Cassidy Helber gave the first tour and Barbara Nicholas gave the second. Thank you guys for coming in today and sharing your happy faces with everyone!
Devin Saari – Very hot and humid today but we had a great time working with the cats! In the morning before cleaning Carol Register and Nikki Weinkauf scrubbed off the squeeze cages. While cleaning Michael H. and I caught another softshell turtle over in the leopard section and we returned him to the lake. After cleaning Sharon Henry and Marie Schoubert did the cicle cats and worked with their operant cats. Fred Pagan and Dylan Lavigne worked on food-prep during the day. Devin Saari weed-whacked the open-air section of Max and Mary Ann’s enclosure. Thank you to everyone who came in today, the cat’s and I appreciate it!

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Report
MALACHITE, ASH and CINDER – Ash and Cinder had a more quiet day and night. They napped on the tall platform in the back section all afternoon, even when the rain shower hit, they stayed up on the platform and endured it, then when it was over they both bathed and then curled back up to nap some more.
Later, in the late afternoon, they woke up and jumped down, then they wandered around back there for a bit, before going to the front enclosure to check out things there. They looked all around and then they watched for the squirrel.
They wandered around the sections, back and forth just checking things out. When they were in the front section, they saw the squirrel running around and they stalked it and tried to follow it, lol. Very cute! They sat by the water bowl and watched a squirrel up in the tree, too.
Then they went to the back section and wandered around back there for a while, before getting up on the tall platform to curl up together for a nice long nap. Later overnight, they woke up and were off to check everything out again.
After a while they went to the front section and wandered around for a bit, then played on the logs a little, then they went in the middle section to wander around for a bit and then came back into the front section. Eventually, they went into the left side and curled up together on the grass by the pipe for another nap.
Later they woke up and went to the right side where Cinder paced the fence and Ash got on the Coolaroo to bathe. After a bit, they went into the middle section for a while, then came back into the front to wrestle on the Coolaroo for a short time.
Then they continued to roam around their enclosure, sometimes disappearing into the middle section and then wandering through the front, stopping to look around for a bit, then they went back to wandering around again. As I write this, they are somewhere in the middle section or in the back, out of sight. They have so much fun together! Love them both!!!
***I didn’t see Malachite at all in the afternoon or overnight. Silly, cute little Bob! Love him!!!
I wish everyone a fantastic Tuesday!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
