“Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last steam poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money”
Coordinator Report – Becky Gagliardo
Busy Saturday today, rain off and on. Thanks to all the amazing volunteers and partners that came out today. I had a small workgroup that did a really good job working on the tiger enclosure across from Armani, thanks to Lacy, Andrew, and Cassidy for leading the workgroup and doing a great job.
The interns kicked butt today, they cleaned, fed, did tours, worked on the tour path and did chores.
Thank you to my cleaners and feeders Bethany, Barbara Ann, Amanda, Kristen, Julie, Babs, Maureen, Matt, Nicole(the cupcakes were amazing), Dylan, Fred, Andrew, and Lacy. Matt had a big Feeding Tour, thanks to Mary for backing him up. Babs had a good Keeper Tour, thanks to Dylan and Jeff for their help with the tour.
We got some feeding and cleaning sign-offs. Amanda, Julie, Barbara, and Lacy knocked out food prep, Abdullah helped with chores too. Sorry if I forgot anyone, it was a long day, but it’s always a good day when we are with the cats.
It was not too hot today so I got to open up the hospital doors so Ginger could get some fresh air, to thank me she rolled around pulling her comforter over her head, she loves her fluffy blankets. Sorry, I did not get more pics, this was our workgroup today, thanks to Lacy for the pic.

Kristine’s Bobcat Rehab Overnight Report
MALACHITE, ASH and CINDER – Ash and Cinder were very quiet overnight. In the afternoon, they got their dinner and ate, then a rain shower moved through and they left the front section. A short time later they went to the back section and got up on top of the tall platform to lounge in the rain. Then they cuddled together and eventually, the rain stopped and the sun came back out and they decided to take a nice nap. They are too adorable!
In the late afternoon, they woke up and jumped down, then went to the front section. They wandered around for a bit, then Ash went into the middle section while Cinder stalked a squirrel up in the tree. She laid between the coolaroo and the fence intently watching and stalking, then Ash came back up front to see what Cinder was doing.
After a bit, they both made their way to the middle section and disappeared. I didn’t see them for a while and then later after dark, Ash came into the back section and got on top of the tall platform to lounge and then nap for quite a while. Cinder stayed hidden the whole time.
Later Cinder came into the back section and Ash heard her and woke up, then he got down and they made their way to the front section. Ash got on the Coolaroo and played with the pumpkins, rolling around and batting at them, then he and Cinder went to their spot on the left side by the pipe and wrestled for a bit. So cute!
After that Cinder left and Ash sat there for a while watching out towards the woods. After a short time, he left to look for Cinder and they both disappeared again for quite a while. They must have been in the middle section because I didn’t see them at all.
Later, they came back up front and wandered around checking things out. Ash was in and out of the front section a couple of times and Cinder paced along the fence for quite a while, then she got on top of the den to lounge and bathe. A short time later, Ash came to find her, playfully batting at her and she batted back, then they jumped down and ran into the middle section. As I write this, they are running around through all of the sections of their enclosure, playing and watching things. They are so precious!!! 🙂
***I saw sweet Malachite for a minute again! He was wandering through the front part of his enclosure and then disappeared into his middle section. I try to get photos, but he’s too fast sometimes, lol. He’s precious!!! 🙂
Have a great Caturday everyone!
Warm wishes, Kristine Metzner
