BAHRAICH: Despite spending crores of rupees on `Project Tiger’ and not getting desirable results, the Central government has constituted a committee to probe into the matter. It reached Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and summoned the officers of Dudhwa National Park and Katarniaghat range at Katarniaghat.

The Central government decides the workplan for preservation of tigers and leopards and provides suitable natural dwellings to the big cats under `Project Tiger’ each year.

A handsome amount is allotted for this purpose and its implementation is reviewed each year. As much as Rs 16 lakh is being spend on each tiger and leopard for preservation, apart from the aid received by the state government.

The six-member committee led by legislator VK Rai reached Katarniaghat. It will review the expenditure incurred so far on the Dudhwa National Park and Katarniaghat Wildlife sanctuary under the project.
