Punjab govt sacks zoo official in white tiger smuggling case

LAHORE: The Punjab government has sacked Tauqeer Shah, vice chairman of the Lahore Zoo Management Committee, in the white tiger smuggling case, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday. Besides Shah, several other officials have also been sacked in this case and former zoo director Yousaf Pal resigned. According to press reports, the zoo allegedly imported two white tigers from Indonesia few months ago without permits required to move endangered species internationally.
